A few days later, Rob invites me on his party cruise. I decline but I tell him to have a great time. The moment Rob leaves the house, I am all alone. I sit on the couch and my heart breaks. I get a text message from Travis.
Text Conversation:
Hi, are you okay?
Not really. Rob left.
Party cruise?
Party cruise.
You're still in Florida?
I'm still in Florida. Are you still in Kansas City?
I'm in Los Angeles. The Chiefs are in town.
Oh. How's Jackson?
He's good. JJ and TJ stopped by. Jackson was so happy to see them.
That's great.
Are you thinking about coming back to Los Angeles?
I am but I don't know when. ESPN has me traveling cross country to get the scoop on a lot of teams and it's not fun.
Remember when we first met?
Yeah. You got so lost trying to find my office and Tony had to point out the directions.
Yeah. That was a bad first impression.
It made me laugh.
I got major news from Sidney.
What's up with my ex?
Sidney just became single. Cassie and him broke up. He's taking the news harder than his breakup with you.
I don't believe this! Does Sidney need me?
I think so. Sidney is in Los Angeles and he's a wreck.
I end my conversation with Travis and I get to the Tampa airport. I park my butt on the bench and I think about Sidney. Right on time, my phone buzzes.
Text Conversation:
Sidney, how are you?
Not so great.
I'm so sorry about your breakup.
It's okay. I'm not sure what to do.
Come to Tampa?
Nope.
Why not?
I'm not going.
Cassie broke your ❤️ you're miserable and you need a change of pace. I'm in the Tampa airport and I need to get on a plane to LA I want to see your face at LAX.
All right. Meet you at LAX.
I end my conversation with Sidney and I hop on a flight from Tampa to Los Angeles. I hear a song.
I've learned to slam on the brake
Before I even turn the key
Before I make the mistake
Before I lead with the worst of me
Give them no reason to stare
No slipping up if you slip away
So I got nothing to share
No, I got nothing to say
Step out, step out of the sun
If you keep getting burned
Step out, step out of the sun
Because you've learned, because you've learned
On the outside, always looking in
Will I ever be more than I've always been?
'Cause I'm tap, tap, tapping on the glass
I'm waving through a window
I try to speak, but nobody can hear
So I wait around for an answer to appear
While I'm watch, watch, watching people pass
I'm waving through a window, oh
Can anybody see, is anybody waving back at me?
We start with stars in our eyes
We start believing that we belong
But every sun doesn't rise
And no one tells you where you went wrong
Step out, step out of the sun
If you keep getting burned
Step out, step out of the sun
Because you've learned, because you've learned
On the outside, always looking in
Will I ever be more than I've always been?
'Cause I'm tap, tap, tapping on the glass
Waving through a window
I try to speak, but nobody can hear
So I wait around for an answer to appear
While I'm watch, watch, watching people pass
Waving through a window, oh
Can anybody see, is anybody waving?
When you're falling in a forest and there's nobody around
Do you ever really crash, or even make a sound?
When you're falling in a forest and there's nobody around
Do you ever really crash, or even make a sound?
When you're falling in a forest and there's nobody around
Do you ever really crash, or even make a sound?
When you're falling in a forest and there's nobody around
Do you ever really crash, or even make a sound?
Did I even make a sound?
Did I even make a sound?
It's like I never made a sound
Will I ever make a sound?
On the outside, always looking in
Will I ever be more than I've always been?
'Cause I'm tap, tap, tapping on the glass
Waving through a window
I try to speak, but nobody can hear
So I wait around for an answer to appear
While I'm watch, watch, watching people pass
Waving through a window, oh
Can anybody see, is anybody waving back at me?
Is anybody waving?
Waving, waving...
