A few weeks later, I get ready to go from Kansas City to Los Angeles. Patrick offers me a ride to the airport and I accept. We talk about upcoming season. I say goodbye to Patrick and board my flight. I text Rob.
Text Conversation:
Gronk, flying from Kansas City to Los Angeles.
Okay. Just stay safe. Jackson and I will meet you at LAX.
Okay.
How is Travis?
He's okay.
I'm thankful that you're coming back to Los Angeles.
Why?
I miss my best friend.
Rob, I miss you too.
I'll see you at LAX.
See you at LAX.
I'm on my flight when I see a lot of Kansas City Chiefs and Royals fans. I'm sitting at the window seat and I see TJ and JJ. I offer them the available seats in my row. The flight is so great and the food is amazing. The plane lands at LAX and I see Rob and Jackson. We're on our way back home when I get a text message from Travis.
Text Conversation:
Hey.
Hey.
Are you back in Los Angeles?
Yeah.
Is Jackson with you?
Yeah. He was really great with Rob.
You and Rob are the best. He's lucky to have a best friend like you.
I'm lucky to have a best friend like Rob. We balance the work party lifestyle. It's amazing how much we have in common.
What about us?
I love the fact you're not afraid to open up to me. Whatever you're going through I can drop what I'm doing and listen to you.
You're going to be the first one to see how much I appreciate everything you do. I put some pictures in the scrapbook.
I had some blank pages?
You did. But I filled a few of them up.
No matter what you have a great heart.
Thanks! I have to get to Arrowhead for a concussion test.
You're welcome! Bye.
As Rob puts his car in park, Jackson and I get out. I hug the tight end and smile. Rob leaves and Jackson and I head inside the house. My heart starts breaking and I start crying. Jackson comes up to me and I scratch his ear. I get up off the kitchen floor and I feed the Great Dane. A few moments later, we hear a knock on the door. I look outside to see an Eagles Duffle Bag. I open the door to hug Jason. Jackson sees his uncle and cousin. I'm relieved that Jason is here. I group chat with Travis and Rob.
Group Chat:
Surprise!
Yeah it was.
Jason was in Kansas City to check up on me but I told him that you needed human companionship. I hope you're not mad at me.
I'm actually happy to see your big brother. I'm not the only one who is happy to see Jason.
Jackson is happy too?
Oh yeah. Jackson is a happy dog. He's feeling great.
I have some great news to share!
What's up?
I'm nervous.
I passed concussion protocol!
That's great news!
Yeah that's great news!
Guys, I have a great feeling about the upcoming season. I have to go Travis, I love you. Rob, thanks again for watching Jackson.
Bye!
Love you too!
Jason and Jackson are enjoying each other. I think about watching Supernatural. Half way through Scoobynatural, I hear a thunder clap. Jackson goes through the back door freaking out. Jason concludes my dog is afraid of thunder. I pause my show and I calm the dog down. An hour later, Jackson falls asleep in his Kansas City Chiefs dog bed. I'm watching clips of some classic football follies. The Butt Fumble comes on and I laugh. I'm getting ready for the night shift at work when my heart starts racing. I grab my phone and I text someone.
Text Conversation:
Hey.
Hey. You okay?
No. My heart started to race.
Name five things you see.
The window, the bed, the door, my pop collection and Jackson.
Great. Name four things you hear.
Airplanes, my phone clicks, the TV and footsteps.
Jason has to be up. Name three things you can touch.
My Asgardian wedding dress, my phone and Jackson.
Name two things you can smell.
My body splash and Lemon tea.
One thing you can taste.
Chocolate.
You did it.
Thanks, Travis.
You're welcome, Vanessa.
I don't know what triggered the anxiety attack.
You did the right thing by texting me.
I wasn't watching anything scary.
Could it be the long distance between us?
Maybe. I really want you to succeed this year and I will be wherever you are. Love you.
Love you too.
