A week later, I sit in my office at my desk board out of my mind. I feel a buzz and I grab my phone.

Hey babe, I miss you.
Hey Travis, I miss you too.
Guess what you're doing in a week?
Hosting Sports Center?
You're going to be in training camp with the team!
What?!
Coach invited you to training camp with us for a couple of weeks. It's going to be amazing.
Will the team be doing joint practices?
Yeah. One is with Philadelphia the other one is with Pittsburgh.
At least you have a lot of time with Jason.
You just have to keep an eye on TJ Watt.
Why?
He has a mean sack and Patrick needs a person to watch out for the Watt.
Travis, what if I make the roster?
I don't want to see you getting hurt.
Then what am I going to do?
I didn't think this through.
I'd like to be on the team.
You would?
It will be hard but I'm tough.
Yeah you are! Just prepare yourself for the high heat and humidity.
You had to mention the humidity. 🙄
Just follow the team.
Sleep tight, Travis.
Sleep tight. 😘
I end the conversation with Travis and fall asleep. I wake up to the feeling that I am not alone. I grab my phone and I text a random number.
Text Conversation:
Is anybody up?
I am
Rob, thank goodness you're awake! I'm scared.
Vanessa, why?
Somebody is in my house.
Turn on your light.
I turn on my kitchen light to see Rob. I look at him dumbfounded and we hug. I head back to my room to get some sleep. Rob sends me a text.

A week later, I am wide awake again. I have a flight from Los Angeles to Kansas City I look at my pink futon and I hop on it. I wake up to the sound of a rift and I know that's my alarm. I tell Rob my house rules and my emergency contact. I ask Rob to do one more thing. We arrive at LAX and it's crazy. I hug my best friend and get through screening. I hop on my flight and it takes off. I'm following the flight path on my phone and I have to get an email out to Scott. The flight lands in Kansas City and I smile. Arrowhead Stadium is packed with potential rookies and I get nervous. Travis sees me and we hug. I get to the press room for a briefing on the training camp and I take notes. A few moments later, I hit the field to train with the Chiefs. I practice kicking a football and the team watches. It hits the post but goes wide right. I'm disappointed in myself for the missed kick. Travis noticed my defeat and he tees up the ball for me to try again. I kick the ball and it goes through. The team cheers for me and I do the cabbage patch earning a lot of laughs from the team. After a few hours, Coach calls a break. I still want to practice my kicking. A few moments later, I feel my phone buzz.

Kid, you have to get down to a Miami party.
Gronk, I can't come.
How come?
Training camp with Travis.
Aw man. I forgot about that.
How long are you in Florida?
Three weeks. How long is your camp?
Two weeks. Then I fly to Pittsburgh.
Are you going to see Sidney?
He's in Cole Harbor studying for the upcoming season.
Man that kid knows how to improve.
Sidney is taking this seriously.
I have to get back to the party.
Bye, Rob!
