Sad Song

A week later, I feel the distance becoming too much. I'm at the ESPN Studio typing my blog when a notification pops up on my screen. I click it and I see Travis and Mya on the screen dancing. I shut my computer down and I leave the studio crying. I muster up the courage to text Rob.

Text Conversation:

Rob, do you have a moment?

I'm at the gym right now. Are you okay?

Travis cheated on me with Mya and my heart is broken!

How could he be so jerky to a sweet girl like you?

I don't know.

As my conversation with Rob ends, I hear a song on the radio and I sing it.
You and I,
We're like fireworks and symphonies exploding in the sky.
With you, I'm alive
Like all the missing pieces of my heart, they finally collide.
So stop time right here in the moonlight,
'Cause I don't ever wanna close my eyes.
Without you, I feel broke.
Like I'm half of a whole.
Without you, I've got no hand to hold.
Without you, I feel torn.
Like a sail in a storm.
Without you, I'm just a sad song.
I'm just a sad song.
With you, I fall.
It's like I'm leaving all my past in silhouettes upon the wall.
With you, I'm a beautiful mess.
It's like we're standing hand in hand with all our fears upon the edge.
You're the perfect melody,
The only harmony
I wanna hear.
You're my favorite part of me,
With you standing next to me,
I've got nothing to fear.
Without you, I feel broke.
Like I'm half of a whole.
Without you, I've got no hand to hold.
Without you, I feel torn.
Like a sail in a storm.
Without you, I'm just a sad song.
Without you, I feel broke.
Like I'm half of a whole.
Without you, I've got no hand to hold.
Without you, I feel torn.
Like a sail in a storm.
Without you, I'm just a sad song.
I'm just a sad song.

I park my car in the driveway of Nicole and Larry's house and I ring the doorbell. Nicole opens the door and invites me inside. I pull out my phone and I text Travis.

Text Conversation:

Travis, I saw something at work that's making me question everything.

Oh man! I was hoping that wouldn't leak! Mya and I were just hanging out in Vegas at a club during the bye week! We just danced!

It didn't look like just dancing to me! I'm heartbroken and angry at you! I'm this close to taking off my engagement ring and going back to being a single lady! It's hard being a Wag but having somebody cheat on the one they claim to love hurts more. I'm done being hurt by athletes and having my heart stomped on! I made a promise to myself. After I broke-up with Sidney, I told myself that I would never date another athlete. I broke that promise as soon as your eyes locked on mine. You have a lot of thinking to do!

Wow! You have a lot of thinking to do as well!

I set my phone on the counter and I leave the house to cool off. I'm at Staples Center shooting hoops when Blake Griffin walks on the practice court I invite the power forward on the court for a game. An hour later, Coach Rivers and the team hit the court to play a game of pig with me. After the game, I hug the team and I leave Staples Center. I'm almost to my car when Blake sprints to the parking lot to give me a custom Clippers Jersey. I thank him for the gift and invite him to a party. I'm smiling as I start my car. I'm back at Larry and Nicole's house when I grab my phone off the counter. I look at the jersey and it reminds me of my custom Chiefs Jersey Travis gifted me on my birthday. I unlock my phone and I send a text to Travis.

Travis, you were right. That fight we got into was stupid. I'm sorry I jumped the gun! You have a lot to be thankful for. I have to know that you're working your butt off to make it to the Superbowl! I'm proud of you ;)

I look to the stool on my right and I see a single red rose.

I go outside to see all fifty ladies that Travis dated cheering me on
