I'm at LAX going from the city to Pittsburgh. It's going to be bittersweet to see Sidney and his teammates. A few moments later, I see Kris and Sidney at the airport. We get out of the airport to get to the practice arena. Sitting on the bleachers, I'm typing my blog. Twenty minutes later, the team gets ready for the game! I'm on the bus sitting next to Kris when my phone buzzes.
Text Conversation:
Hey.
Hi.
Penguins playing?
Yup. They're on the bus right now. I'm going with them.
I'm in Detroit right now and this sucks.
How come?
The city is scary.
You hang on and avoid rap battles.
I will.
After my conversation with Travis ends, the bus parks in front of PPG Paints Arena. I get off the bus and the team heads to the locker room. A few moments later, I watch the game in the press room. Sidney scores a goal and celebrates with Kris. Twenty minutes later, the team is in the locker room. I watch the intermission report while thinking about Sidney. Forty minutes later, the game ends in victory for the home team. The team gets ready for the press conferences and I interview Sidney. We take the bus to the airport and I sit with Sidney. It's a quiet flight that is awkward. As the flight lands, a song plays.
I know this isn't what I wanted,
I never thought it'd come this far,
Just thinking back to where we started
And how we lost all that we are
We were young and times were easy,
But I could see it's not the same.
I'm standing here but you don't see me,
I'd give it all for that to change.
And I don't want to lose her,
I don't want to let her go.
I'm standing out in the rain,
I need to know if it's over,
Cause I would leave you alone.
Flooded with all this pain,
Knowing that I'll never hold her,
Like I did before the storm
Before the storm
With every strike of lightning
Comes a memory that lasts
Not a word is left unspoken as the thunder starts to crash
Maybe I should give up
I'm standing out in the rain,
I need to know if it's over,
Cause I will leave you alone.
Flooded with all this pain,
Knowing that I'll never hold her,
Like I did before the storm
Trying to keep the lights from going out
And the clouds from ripping out my broken heart.
They always say a heart is not a home
Without the one who gets you through the storm.
Standing out in the rain
Knowing that it's really over
Please don't leave me alone
I'm flooded with all this pain
Knowing that I'll never hold you
Like I did before the storm
Yeah
Like I did before the storm
Sidney looks at me and we hug. I get greeted by Rob and Jackson. The chill period is amazing.
