It's Christmas Day and ESPN is looking festive. I drive to Staples Center with my radio blasting a song.
You're the light, you're the night
You're the color of my blood
You're the cure, you're the pain
You're the only thing I wanna touch
Never knew that it could mean so much, so much
You're the fear, I don't care
'Cause I've never been so high
Follow me to the dark
Let me take you past our satellites
You can see the world you brought to life, to life
So love me like you do, la-la-love me like you do
Love me like you do, la-la-love me like you do
Touch me like you do, ta-ta-touch me like you do
What are you waiting for?
As the second verse of the song comes on I sing.
Fading in, fading out
On the edge of paradise
Every inch of your skin is a holy grail I've got to find
Only you can set my heart on fire, on fire
Yeah, I'll let you set the pace
'Cause I'm not thinking straight
My head's spinning around I can't see clear no more
What are you waiting for?
Love me like you do, la-la-love me like you do
Love me like you do, la-la-love me like you do
Touch me like you do, ta-ta-touch me like you do
What are you waiting for?
Love me like you do, la-la-love me like you do
Love me like you do, la-la-love me like you do
Touch me like you do, ta-ta-touch me like you do
What are you waiting for?
I'll let you set the pace
'Cause I'm not thinking straight
My head's spinning around I can't see clear no more
What are you waiting for?
Love me like you do, la-la-love me like you do
Love me like you do, la-la-love me like you do
Touch me like you do, ta-ta-touch me like you do
What are you waiting for?
Love me like you do, la-la-love me like you do
Love me like you do, la-la-love me like you do
Touch me like you do, ta-ta-touch me like you do
What are you waiting for?
As the song ends, I arrive at Staples Center waiting for the crew. I'm about to hit the floor when a song comes on and I sing it.
Where have all the good men gone
And where are all the gods?
Where's the street-wise Hercules
To fight the rising odds?
Isn't there a white knight upon a fiery steed?
Late at night I toss and turn
and dream of what I need
I need a hero
I'm holding out for a hero 'til the end of the night
He's gotta be strong and he's gotta be fast
And he's gotta be fresh from the fight
I need a hero
I'm holding out for a hero 'til the morning light
He's gotta be sure and he's gotta be soon
And he's gotta be larger than life, larger than life
Oh whoa!
Oh!
Yeah!
Oh, oh!
Somewhere after midnight
In my wildest fantasies
Somewhere just beyond my reach
There's someone reaching back for me
Racing on the thunder and rising with the heat
It's gonna take a superman to sweep me off my feet
I need a hero
I'm holding out for a hero 'til the end of the night
He's gotta be strong and he's gotta be fast
And he's gotta be fresh from the fight
I need a hero
I'm holding out for a hero 'til the morning light
He's gotta be sure and he's gotta be soon
And he's gotta be larger than life
I need a hero
I'm holding out for a hero 'til the end of the night
Up where the mountains meet the heavens above
Out where the lightning splits the sea
I could swear that there's someone somewhere watching me
Through the wind and the chill and the rain
And the storm and the flood
I can feel his approach is like a fire in my blood
Oh!
I need a hero
I'm holding out for a hero 'til the end of the night
He's gotta be strong, and he's gotta be fast
And he's gotta be fresh from the fight
I need a hero
I'm holding out for a hero 'til the morning light
He's gotta be sure, he's gotta be soon
And he's gotta be larger than life
I need a hero
I'm holding out for a hero 'til the end of the night
He's gotta be strong, and he's gotta be fast
And he's gotta be fresh from the fight
I need a hero
As the game starts, I stand on the sidelines to report. The game is at halftime when I get a text message from Nicole.
Text Conversation:
Vanessa, you're doing great!
Thanks, Nicole! How are you?
Great. I'm at the game and you look calm.
I'm so pumped up for my date with Travis! I can't contain my joy! Our date happens right after the game! <3 is in the air!
I think something great will happen to you ;)
I hope so :D I have to get back to the floor :)

As I get back on the floor for the second half of the game, my heart starts racing so much. I didn't see Austin Rivers coming at me. I dodge the player and I wish him good luck. The game ends in a 100-98 Clippers loss. I interview Doc and Austin. As the crowd and reporters leave, I wait outside Staples Center. I see Travis looking so amazing in a suit and tie. I ask to get back into the stadium to change A few moments later, I see Travis opening my car door. I thank him and we're on our way to the sight. Travis looks at me I noticed he's nervous. The car stops at a big theater and Travis and I are watching Sing. After the movie ends, Travis and I are eating. An hour later, Travis and I head home. We enter the house and it feels like a kiss is about to happen. I breathe deep and Travis looks at me. We're watching WAGS and we kiss! I'm so happy that a kiss got shared and I group chat Nicole and Larry.
Group Chat:
Guys, it happened! Travis and I kissed :D
Wow! You're a girlfriend. Congratulations!
Thanks!
You're welcome.
What's the WAGS hierarchy?
Single, girlfriend, engaged and married!
I really want to take things slow with Travis and wait. He's lucky
So are you.
As the chat ends, I fall asleep on the couch in the living room.
