ABUJA, NIGERIA.
Bushra decided to go see her mother in-law the next day after having her iftar with her siblings and cousin, she can't hold it in any longer. She's called the woman countless times but she didn't bother picking up the call, she can't just let it slide when they have never fought that lasted longer than two hours. If something really terrible has happened this time, she wants to find out what is it and who is the one that came between them. This means only one person is trying to separate them because she can't remember doing anything bad to the woman.
Getting dressed in a simple maxi dress with scoop neckline and regular sleeves, she slipped on her slippers then wrapped a veil around her. She has already dressed Anaan so she didn't bother taking anything for her and instead took her in her arms. Mika'il is with Zara, she don't know whether to go there and tell him she is leaving or just call him up and inform him about it. She didn't have to think further since he came gliding to their room in sky blue thobe. He makes her heart stop even in something as simple as a thobe, he looks exceptionally handsome.
"Where to?" He scrunched his brows looking at her worried face and his sleeping daughter in her arms. He don't understand where she is going so late in the night looking worried like someone met up with an accident and is on the verge of dying.
"I'm going to see Belle Meré, she's still not answering my calls. I've called her more than billion times, she didn't pick any neither had she reply any of my messages." While saying it with her mouth, her chest tightened further. This has never happened between her and her mother in-law, this is their first huge fight and she can't deny how afraid she is.
"Calm down, take deep breaths. I'm sure there is nothing you need to worry yourself with. Zara wants to do something and she wants me to stay there with her, I would've come with you. But don't drive recklessly please, be careful." He kissed both their foreheads with a look of longing feeling something twisting in his guts.
"Sure." She left after swallowing thickly, she hates Zara at that moment. Had her husband been with her, he would've made sure everything was alright before they can leave and now, she is not sure at all.
"Where is Belle Meré?" Bushra asked Amir as soon as she entered while he was lounging on the sofa in the living room. His eyes are taking in her form like she is from an entirely different world, she didn't like how everyone is staring at her like that. Even Mika'il gave her that same look, she hates it.
"She is currently taking a bath and demand we don't disturb her for another hour. Sit here before she comes down. You know how she gets when you interrupt her time with the bathroom." He patted the spot next to him and she anxiously sat down, adjusting pillows on the floor for Anaan.
"Let me call Afrah to take her upstairs." She called Afrah's number who was quick to bound down the stairs in a hurry. Her eyes were wide with excitement especially when they landed on Anaan's sleeping form on the floor. The girl could be obsesses with her daughter.
"You came! Why does she sleep whenever you come here? Don't she want her Aunt playing with her?" Afrah pouted taking her off the pillows and cradle her to her chest. The way she takes her baby always amaze her, she always manage to look like an expert holding the baby like that. Like a mother would her own child.
"Or maybe she is tired of you pressing her." Amir teased earning a glare from Afrah before she made her way upstairs to try ways to wake her baby, she don't mind at the moment. All she wants to do is talk to her mother in-law and sort thing out before they get out of hand, she can't deal with it all alone.
"When is she coming down? Did she say anything about coming down here after she is done?" Bushra asked anxiously, her eyes darting to the stairs as if waiting for her to come galloping to her arms but she didn't. Ugh, this is getting out of hand.
