Drowning in Regret
"Wait out here."
Sean had driven them to the Rainier Hotel, not wanting anyone else with them as they conducted personal business. They were currently outside a hotel room, with loud music erupting from inside.
"Not a chance," Emilia answered, crossing her arms. "Now, are you gonna open the door or shall I?"
"Fine. Just, don't be too shocked." He warned as he gently pushed the door open.
She slipped her hand in his, holding on to it tightly. "Clearly you've forgotten what type of world we grew up in. Takes a lot to shock us both."
"Right, that is." He answered, pulling her along with him.
They entered the hotel room and upon walking in, the smell of heroin, smoke, and alcohol filled the air. The room itself was in a state of disrepair despite being located in a five-star hotel. If that wasn't enough, everywhere they looked, there were two men or more performing erotic acts on each other.
Well, she had to admire their enthusiasm at least. Doing it around a lot of people.
They walked deeper into the room, finding themselves in what looked like the living room, what with the couches and the small table in the middle. Vintage wallpaper coating the room. Along with that, there was also a fireplace located on the side, filling the room with warmth.
Although, the room was warm enough due to the fact that on every cushion and almost every surface, there was a naked male body.
Sean and Emilia walked to one of the men curled up near the fireplace.
Sean crouched down in front of the man, one of his hands still holding on to Emilia's. "Dylan. Dylan."
The man, Dylan, woke up slowly though, at first sight of Sean, he found himself waking up quicker. She recognized that look in his eyes, a mixture of fear, and nerves.
"Where's my brother?" Sean asked him.
Emilia could see that Dylan had no intention to talk, perhaps thinking that he was protecting Billy. "Please. We just want to know he's safe."
"He went," Dylan's eyes shifted between her and Sean, giving in. "He went to school some gear. You could try Green Lanes."
She answered, grateful. "Thank you."
Having received the answers they needed, Sean and Emilia left immediately, not wanting to stay any longer than they had to.
Once they were back in the car, Sean in the driver's seat and her in the front passenger seat.
As they began driving, Emilia spoke up, wondering. "You've done this before, haven't you? Looked for Billy in there?"
Sean nodded. "Yeah, Billy has some good days. Some days he's at home, perfectly okay, then the next day, he's back in that hotel room pumping drugs into himself."
