A Debt to be Paid

"Surely there's more than that

"Surely there's more than that."

Emilia tried to keep herself positive only for Sean to shake his head. "Afraid not."

"Let me help. I can get men from Italy to come here right now." She tried to say as they walked through the empty parking lot.

He stopped, stepping in front of her path and holding her face in his hands. "It means a lot to me that you would do such a thing but we cannot make this war any bigger. We can barely handle the problem we have now."

She grumbled under her breath. "We wouldn't be having such a big problem if Luan just continued on his way and avoided deals with a gang outside of London."

"Now, now, Lia. Your inner Orsini is showing." He tutted, giving her an amused look as he pecked her lips gently.

She couldn't contain the laugh that escaped her at such a sweet gesture.  "It's the truth, isn't it? I'm Orsini through and through."

"We could add 'Wallace' to that name if you'd like." He teased, pulling her into a hug that made them both calm down infinitely, especially after the stressful morning they went through.

"Buy a ring first, Wallace. Or better yet, buy me a vineyard then we'll start talking." She said, shoving against his chest playfully.

"Alright, if that's what you want." He chuckled lowly as they continued in the direction of the car. She had missed the way that he seemed to swallow with difficulty at what she said as if he was nervous.

She laughed at him, both of them clearly distracted. "Take it easy. We still have a lot of problems to deal with."

"The fact that you said 'we' and not 'you', makes it all worth it." He smiled, rounding about the car and entering the driver's seat.

Emilia went on to do the same, swinging open the car door, only for her to freeze on the seat as she felt the barrel of a gun on the side of her head. "You've got to be fucking kidding me."

She felt a hand wrap around her throat as the gun pressed harder upon her temple. She could hear the click of the gun, the safety being turned off, increasing the risk of her life. Sean was looking at her in shock, not wanting to make a move lest risk her safety.

A familiar voice spoke. "You gave us up. To Asif. You gave us up."

It was Lale, Emilia realized. Of course, she wasn't dead. Lale would not be killed so easily.

"No, no, calm down," Sean tried to reason, his eyes wide with fear as he watched Lale tighten her hold around Emilia. He would've already pulled out his gun in defense, but he wouldn't take any chances when it came to his Lia.
