Harry
It was around 5:30 when Samantha arrived back at home. She jumped into the shower quick as her mom and Sophie were finishing making dinner. I helped out and set the table. The casserole was done just as Sam was done getting washed off again. I heard her come down the stairs and I said, "Perfect timing. The casserole just got done." She got off the steps and walked over by us. "Sorry I tried to hurry." Sam said out of breath. Sam's mom took the casserole out of the oven and walked to the dinner table. "Move, move, move. This is very hot." She said quickly. She set the casserole down onto the table and walked away. We all sat down around the table and waited for Sam's mom. She finally joined us and we started eating.
We ate more and more. We talked a little bit too, but not interesting topics. "This is a great casserole Ms. Cook." I complimented. Sam's mom laughed and said, "Just my usually cooking Harry." I took another bit and said, "I wish my mom had cooking skills like you Ms. Cook." Sam looked over and me and smiled. "Please call me Peggy, Harry." Samantha's mom said. She took another bite and set her fork down. I took a sip of my water and began eating again. "So who's all invited to the wedding on your side, Harry?" Peggy asked. I took a bite of the casserole and said, "Well I invited my mom and my sister, but I doubt they will come." I took a sip of my water. "Well why is that?" Peggy asked. I stopped eating and cleared my throat. "They just don't really have enough money to come." I answered. Peggy nodded and said, "Well I'm glad you guys are having it here otherwise I would not have gone either." It was quiet again then Sophie said, "So nobody is coming to the wedding on your side Harry?" I coughed and said, "Well my band mates obviously." Peggy nodded and said, "That'll be good for them. I'm glad they are coming." I looked over at Sam and smiled. We continued eating.
Once everyone was done eating we cleaned up the kitchen. "I can help," Peggy said trying to wash the dishes that Sam was doing. "Mom, I have this. You and Sophie can just sit down and relax." Peggy sighed and joined Sophie in the living room. I washed the counter tops while Sam started on the dishes. Once I was done I went over by Sam and started drying the dishes. "How have you been feeling lately?" I asked Sam as I was drying a plate. I put it away and dried another one. "I have been feeling nervous a lot lately." Sam answered. I put the plate away and dried the next plate. "Is it because of the wedding coming so soon?" I asked. She nodded and said, "Yeah part of that." We continued to talk about the wedding.
When we were finished doing the dishes Sam and I decided to take a walk. We changed clothes and slipped on our running shoes. We were heading out of the house when Peggy said, "Where are you guys going?" "Oh we're just taking a walk," Sam said. "It won't be for long." She added. She shut the door and we started walking. We were walking away from her house when I grabbed her hand and held it. She looked over at me and smiled.
The weather was so perfect and the wind was still. I could hear the bugs making noises and the car roaring passed us otherwise it was so quiet. We went around the block then Sam turned and we headed for downtown. "Where are we going?" I asked her. She was looking around and smiling. "We're just taking a walk. Aren't we?" She looked over at me and smiled. "I thought we were taking a small walk?" I asked. She shrugged and said, "I felt like taking a longer walk than that." We continued walking towards downtown.
It was getting darker and I could tell Sam was not worn out as I was on this walk. My legs started hurting and it was getting harder to breath. As for Sam, she was walking briskly. "Can we slow down?" I asked her. She slowed down and laughed. "Sure, only for you." She said. We walked side by side now and at a normal pace, which was nice. We walked through downtown and was walking back up to her house, which was only like 5 blocks away. We turned into a neighborhood street that had lights lit up in every house. It was easier to see too. "My crush used to live there," Sam said quietly pointing at a two story house. A couple cars where parked outside of the house. They also had a basketball hoop. "Really?" I stopped and admired the house. Sam stopped beside me and wrapped her arms around my bicep. "He was so adorable. God, I miss him." Sam said. "What happened to him?" I asked curiously. She shrugged and said, "Well he had a girlfriend. They planned to get married right away and have kids. I thought they were moving too fast, but after that I realized that it doesn't matter how much time you spend with them, it's just how you spend it with that special someone." I looked down at Sam and she looked up at me. We smiled then looked away. It was quiet again. "Want to ding dong ditch it?" I asked her and looked down at Sam. She was looking at the house then looked up at me. "How about on the count of three." She said. I smiled and we quietly walked up to the front porch. "One, two, three," We both whispered. She rung the door bell and we ran off.
Sam was ahead of me but I caught up to her. We kept running as fast as we could. After running through a couple neighborhood streets, we stopped running. Sam walked over to a stop sign and I followed her. She leaned against the post and was running out of breath. When we got our breath back, we walked towards her house.
We turned down to Sam's street and continued walking to her house. "I wanted to do that so badly when I was younger but I never had the guts too," Sam was saying as we entered the house. Peggy and Sophie were still on the couch watching TV. As we were taking our shoes off, Peggy asked, "What did you want to do when you were younger?" Samantha nervously laughed and said, "Oh nothing. She sat down on the love seat and I down on a chair. "How was the walk?" Sophie asked. She looked at both of us waiting for an answer. "It was tiring," Sam said yawning and stretching on the couch. She stayed like that for 10 minutes then said, "I'm gunna go to bed soon." She got up from the love seat and headed downstairs. I got up and headed downstairs too.
Sam was packing her things away when I went downstairs. "Whatcha up to?" I asked looking around the messy room. "I'm just changing my clothes quick and going to bed. I'm so tired." Sam answered. She pulled out her pajamas and headed upstairs to change since there was no bathroom downstairs. I picked out my pajamas and headed upstairs. "Can I use your bathroom Peggy?" I asked as I got to the main level. "Yeah that's fine." She said. I headed up the steps and went into the master bedroom. I went into the bathroom and closed the door. I quickly changed into my pajamas. I was about to wash my face when someone opened the door. I looked and seen Sam. She started laughing and said, "Sorry. I didn't mean to bother you." She grabbed a wash rag and left. I soaked the wash rag and started washing my face.
I was done washing my face and I headed downstairs. I walked out to the main level and downstairs. Sam was laying on the mattress and on her computer. I threw my dirty clothes into my bag and joined her on the mattress. I pulled the covers over me and closed my eyes. "You're going to bed?" Sam asked. "Yes." I said. She closed her computer and set it aside. She got up and turned the lights off. She hopped back onto the mattress. "Goodnight Harry." She said quietly. "Goodnight Sam." I said and smiled.
