Harry
For the next couple weeks, Sam and I haven’t seen each other a lot lately since she was going back to college and I was in the studio for a couple days. We would always try to find times to hang out, but it would never work out because she would have to study for a last minute test or I would have to be with Louis for the day.
When it was New Year’s Eve, Sam and I were available to hang out together and it seemed like a long time since I last seen her.
I was changing my clothes upstairs, when I heard her arrive to my apartment. “Harry,” Sam yelled in the big empty apartment. I was kind of mad that I did buy a big apartment that was all for myself. After the holidays, it was so quiet. Louis decided to go back home because he had enough of me and to this day I still thought he hated me. I was gathering my thought when Sam came into the bedroom. “What are you doing?” Sam asked as I stood there pant less, and getting my shirt buttoned. “Nothing,” I said as I finished the last button then walked over to the dresser. I pulled out a pair of black dress pants and slipped them on. I tucked my shirt in and put on socks. I looked at Sam, who was wearing a silky shirt and some skinny jeans. “Are you ready to go?” Sam asked. I smiled and said, “Yeah almost.”
We headed downstairs and I slipped on my shoes. I grabbed my coat and phone. I looked at the clock on the stove, which read 10:50 and I headed out of the apartment while Sam was behind me. I grabbed her hand and we headed down to the lobby to leave the apartment building.
We walked together, in the cold, to the Times Square, since it was a couple blocks away. Huge crowds were there and we stood together. “Where do you want to go?” I asked Sam loudly. I budge through a couple people, holding Sam’s hand. That was our only connection between the crowd and us. We walked to a decent spot and stopped. I pulled Sam out of the crowd. She fixed her hair and said, “Wow was that awful.” I smiled down at her and wrapped by arm around her as she did the same.
We stood there for about a half an hour until I said, “Would you want to go to someplace else?” Sam looked at me and said, “I don’t care.” We started leaving through the crowd, which was an awful idea to do. Once we were out, we started walking. We walked passed a group of people and then these couples. “Harry?” Someone said. I turned around and noticed it was a girl who said it. “Harry Styles,” She said as she walked over to us. She gave me a hug and said, “Hi. How are you?” I smiled politely. It was my first girlfriend I ever had. Her name was Tiffany. I dated her when I was in high school and I thought she would have forgotten me by now, because I did. “Hi. I’m good.” I stumbled to say the words. She smiled and nodded. “Oh this must be you’re new fiancée. Congrats Harry!” She said excitedly. I was so confused. “How do you know?” I asked her. She smiled and said, “Oh everybody knows, Harry. The whole town is talking about you back at home.” I nodded. She continued talking as I wasn’t paying attention. I looked up at her boyfriend; he seemed like a buff kind of dude that played sports on a daily basis. He was tall and had brown hair, and dark skin color. Maybe they tan together on the weekends, but who cares.
“Well it was nice meeting you,” Tiffany said. We hugged and said our goodbyes. Sam and I started walking the opposite way they were going. “So what was that all about?” Sam asked. I laughed and said, “I’ll explain once we get some food.” I continued walking along with Sam behind me. We walked to a grill and bar place and went inside. We sat on the bar-stools, since the place was packed and everyone else had chairs or booths.
A bartender came by and asked what we wanted to drink. “I’ll take a beer,” I said causally. I looked over at Sam, who was reading the drink menu and she answered, “I’ll have a pina colada.” She nodded her head and left. I turned to Sam and said, “Wow a pina colada.” Sam smiled at me and the bartender came back with our drinks. “Do you want anything to eat?” She asked. I shrugged and said, “Well just have a plate of appetizers.” The bartender nodded and she left again. Sam took a sip of her drink and set it down. “So tell me about your ex,” Sam said as she licked her lips. I smiled and said, “She’s nothing really. You don’t have to worry about it.” She laughed and said, “Well it seemed like you guys had something otherwise she wouldn’t have talked to you.” I sighed and said, “Well we dated back in high school. She was a senior while I was junior.” I took a sip of my beer and Sam asked, “And what else?” I continued, “Well we started dating at the beginning of the school year and she was really happy to be with me and everything. She was so busy with sports that she was in and she was active in the school plays and everything else. I tried to be there for her at her games or plays, but I didn’t really have any friends at the time and I hated going out to socialize.” Sam laughed and said, “You what?” I shook my head and smiled. “I know I was stupid back then. So then she goes to college finds another hot dude and hooks up with him, while I’m back at home doing nothing. Things never worked out for us. She started to get in these fights with me and I was having a hard time at home.” I said. Sam looked at me and said, “What do you mean?” I shrugged and said, “Well that’s when we were going to move and Gemma was getting into drugs. I remember the day when I moved. It was a Sunday morning and Tiffany stood outside with us, waiting for our moving truck. Once it came, we said goodbye and I never saw her again.” “So by her saying your hometown, she doesn’t mean the one you recently lived in?” Samantha asked. I shook my head, “No. She meant the one in the west coast area.” Sam nodded then said, “Why don’t you visit there?” I shrugged and said, “I wouldn’t want to honestly. I had a tough time there, with my dad passing away and Gemma doing drugs and all my ex’s.” It was quiet then I said, “God I feel awful telling you all of this stuff.” Sam touched my arm and said, “It’s not just stuff, it’s your past. I know people say forget the past, but sometimes it can be so inspiring at times and you might not even know it.” I shrugged and said, “Yeah, but you don’t even have a dirty past.” Sam laughed and said, “You just don’t know.” I looked at her and took a sip of my beer. “I had lots of problems as a kid growing up. My parents hated each other and I hated my sister. Once my dad left it was so lonely. My sister changed her daughter and father time with girlfriend and boyfriend time. My mom would just overwork and I would be home alone all of the time.”
Once Samantha was done telling her story, we had gotten our appetizers. We sat there together eating our appetizers and drinking our alcohol. We were laughing and sometimes crying, but that night was one of the best days of my life.
Sam was in the middle of her story, explaining how she believe that aliens were real, when this fat drunk guy yelled, “5, 4, 3, 2, and 1! Happy New Year’s!” Sam turned to look at him then she turned to look at me. I leaned in and grabbed her cheek. I started kissing her, which she was unaware of. She started kissing me back and before we knew it we had a long make out session, and yes it was in a restaurant.
I paid for the meal and we walked back to my apartment. When we arrived there, we took our shoes off and I headed upstairs to change as Sam sat down on the couch. I came back into pajamas as Sam was watching a Christmas movie. I walked into the kitchen and grabbed a water bottle. I took a long sip of it then joined Sam on the couch. We cuddled and finished watching the Christmas movie.
When it was over, I changed the channel. I was about to say something when I noticed Sam was sleeping on me. I smiled at her. She looked so adorable laying on me. I turned the TV off and carefully got up, but woke Sam up in the process. “What time is it?” She asked. I looked at the clock on the stove and said, “It’s almost 3 in the morning.” Sam rubbed her eyes and said, “Shit. I should go to bed right now.” She started getting up and headed over by the door. I stood there and said, “Well you can sleep here tonight.” She stopped and walked over by me. “I think that would be a lot better.” Sam said mumbling and headed up the stairs. I followed right behind her.
