Samantha

The next morning I woke up from Avery coming in the dorm room and crying. I sat up slightly and looked down at her. She sat down at her computer desk and started sobbing lightly. I sat up more and said, “Is everything alright Avery?” I was so confused yet I felt sorry for her. She sniffled a little and said, “Yeah. I’m alright. Sorry to wake you up.” I smiled and said, “No, you didn’t wake me up. I was already awake.” I jumped down from my bed and went into the bathroom. I was brushing my hair when I asked, “So do you want to talk about it?” I looked around the corner and noticed Avery was still sitting there. She wiped her eyes and said, “Yeah, but only if you could buy me some coffee.” I smile and said, “Yeah that’s fine.” Avery got up from her chair and said, “Okay then I’ll go get ready now.”

Since we didn’t have a lot of time, I let Avery shower since she smeared all of her makeup and had greasy hair. I had greasy hair as well, but I decided to put it up in a bun. I did my hair, then my makeup, and then I changed into some decent clothes. I put on a plain white shirt, then I put on this black cardigan, and then I slipped on this plain green army jacket. I decided to put on a loose scarf. It had pink, yellow, orange, and little bit of black in it. I slipped on skinny jeans and some combat boots. I sat on my chair, waiting for Avery. She quickly got ready and we were off to the café shop.

We walked together to the café shop. It was quiet and there weren’t really any students around, assuming since it was Christmas break and everyone left. We walked into the shop and waited in the line. “Do you know what you want to get?” I asked Avery. She shook her head and said, “I always came here with my mom and I would always order the same thing she got because I wanted to be like her.” I smiled and continued reading the menu. Once it was our turn, Avery ordered then I did. I ordered a Vanilla Tea Latte along with a blueberry scone. Once I paid, we gotten our food and sat down in a booth.

“What did you get?” I asked Avery looking at her food. “Oh I got the Toffee Mocha Frappuccino along with a butter croissant.” She explained. “That looks good,” I said. She smiled and said, “That’s what my mom always got.” I took a sip of my tea and set it back down. “Have you been talking to your mom since getting into college?” I asked Avery. She shrugged and took a bite of her croissant. Once she swallowed she said, “I haven’t been able too.” I nodded and said, “What do they do for a living?” She took another bite and said, “Well my mom died of cancer and my dad is an asshole.” I looked at her and said, “I’m sorry.” Avery sniffled and said, “Don’t be sorry.” I took a bite of my scone and said, “When did your mom died?” Avery stopped eating and said, “My mom had breast cancer and she was in the worse stage. My father was no longer in love with her and he started a new life and wanted nothing of us. My mom died when I was 9 years old and I had to live with him mostly for middle school and high school. It was hard because I pretty much had to start a new life too. Once I turned 18 years old, I was out the door and I lived with my aunt and uncle. They helped me with everything and they are my angels.” I smiled and we continued eating.

Once we were all done, we threw out our trash and headed out. “So what kind of classes are you taking right now?” I asked Avery. “I’m taking a couple writing classes and also health ones. Those are pretty interesting.” I nodded and said, “What are you planning to be when you grow up?” She laughed and said, “I would love to be a writer, but I would also like to be a therapist.” I smiled and we continued walking to our college. I felt a vibration in my pocket so I pulled out my phone and it was Harry calling me. “Hello?” I answered. “Hey Sam I was wondering if you’re bored and you would like to hang out with us,” Harry said. “Uh well right now? I’m with Avery and we’re just hanging out.” I said. “Great. It’s a date. I’ll pick you up in 5 minutes.” Harry said then he hung up. I put my phone back in my pocket confused. “What?” Avery asked. We walked over and we sat down. “Harry said he’s going to pick us up for a date.” Avery looked at me nervous then said, “Oh I shouldn’t go.” “No, Avery you’re fine. I don’t really want to go either. I have no idea what’s going on.” I said. We sat their talking and waiting for Harry.

This black car showed up and parked on the side of the street. “I think this is him,” I said looking over. Avery kept playing with her hair. Soon Harry jumped out of the driver’s side and walked over to us. “Hey.” He said once he was close to us. We stood up and I gave him a hug then he hugged Avery. “What are you doing?” I asked Harry. “Well the boys and I are going to the studio and I was inviting you and Avery along. Would you like to come along?” I looked at Harry then at Avery and said, “Well what happen to Louis?” Harry cleared his throat and explained, “He’s still in the hospital, but we’re just going to have him do his parts later. Would you like to come join us?” I looked at Avery and she smiled a little bit and nodded her head. We jumped into Harry’s car and drove to the studio.
