“Sir, are you positive this will work?” I ask, my voice laced with a nervous energy.
“Yes, Tessa, I am. We have had situations like this in the past. There’s absolutely nothing to worry, everything is sorted out, you enjoy your day-“ Dean Brandon says reassuringly, with a soft smile and I relax.
I nod and then leave, closing the door behind me. I turn down the hallway, contemplating his words, and honestly, I’m not worried about this. If Brando-
I feel a violent yank at my wrist and the next thing I know I’m being dragged and before I can even protest, I’m pushed into an empty classroom.
“WHAT THE HELL, IS WRONG WITH YOU SCOTT?” I scream out in utmost anger, my voice booming around in the emptiness.
“Stop shouting. I need you to do something-“
I look at him, appalled with a disbelieving kook, eyebrows raised and mouth open. He stands, in a white shirt, visibly flustered and in a hurry. I notice a small bruise on the side of his forehead, but I’m too distracted by his words. That bloody-
“You what?”
“I need you to do something, it’s important.” He repeats in a tint of irritation.
“I’m sorry, I didn’t get that, can you say it again, please?” I shake my head innocently, and he pushes his sleeves up his elbows in agitation.
“Listen, cut it with you drama, I’m not here to tolerate your tantrums, or any snide, useless commen-“
“Uh-uh, that’s not the way of needing someone to do something, Hardin. What’s wrong sweetheart, first time?” I bat my eyelashes at him, and he takes a furious step towards me.
“You want to get yourself killed? Here, in this very room?” He grits.
I roll my eyes. Huh. He can pull off rudeness and sarcasm and taunts all he wants, and when I do it, he’s getting down to murder! I don’t call him drama queen for no reason.
“Fine. What?” I ask him, disinterested.
He takes a moment, before speaking, clenching and unclenching his fists, and I kind of guess what he has to say already.
“Over the weekend, Trev and I- we- got into an argument, with- someone. And it came down to a few punches. Now, he was a Founder Council member, so things got a bit bad. Trevor got roped in, and they want him expelled.”
I listen to him, unblinking. He rakes a hand through his hair, and walks a few casual steps towards me.
“So they’ll hold a meeting, Brandon will call a motion. Now, as chairperson, you get a double vote. It’s pretty simple what you have to do. You go to the meeting, you be a nice agreeable person for once, you give the vote and you save Trevor. You shouldn’t have any questions but still, are there any?”
