I feel a sudden drop of cold on my head and I touch it anxiously to see a small speck of white that immediately melts away. My mouth opens with immeasurable delight and surprise as I realise what is to come. And sure enough a moment later tiny specks of white snow fall all over and around. I get overwhelmed with the perfection of it all, and a trail of enthusiastic overjoyed short laughs fall out of mouth.
Jesus, this is utopia.
I look at Hardin smiling, looking up and running a hand through his hair with his eyes closed to the snow.
"What now?" I ask him loudly.
"It's the last chorus, everyone's gonna try the hook step!" Hardin starts with the clapping himself seeing me and answers with a yell.
"I don't know the hook step!"
"Neither do I. Watch and learn!"
"And if I can't?"
"Then you'll be on TMZ tomorrow because you're Shakira and you messed up a choreography. Nobody cares Tessa!"
He shakes his head towards the end of his sassy remark and I reach out to strangle his throat. He laughs and dodges my attempt but I circle back around, clasping my hands around his neck laughing while he attempts to unwind them.
"You want to fight through the last chorus?"
"No, I want to do the hook step!"
"Then get off!" He breaks into a choked laugh and I let him out begrudgingly.
He bends his head and rakes his hand through his hair vigorously, making all the snowflakes fall over my face and I smack his shoulder away with a surprised chortle.
When he doesn't budge I hold down his head with both hands ruffling his hair even more roughly because I know he doesn't like others touching his oh-so-precious hair.
It gives me unreal satisfaction, and too soon he slips out of my hold stepping a bit away with an amused playful snicker.
The chorus starts a tick after and the line before me breaks into the dance step, making me divert my attention from him. I want to do it. I want to do at least one step and get it right. I notice they shimmy towards the left and then throw their hands up, then to the right and hands up again.
