I caress the end of his hair lightly and Hardin holds one of his wrist with his other hand, locking his hold in my embrace.
I feel his heavy breathing on my neck, as he slowly relaxes.
"There was trouble with the case. I was with Trev and Dennis the whole day. The witness was backing out." He mumbles into my hair, his frown deepening as he does.
"It'll get alright." I comfort him, as we rock back and forth gently in our hug.
"You think?" He whispers tiredly.
"Mhm hm." I nod, kissing the back of his ear.
I knew something was wrong the moment his eyes flashed up in the same temper that did the day he exposed the whole sex tape game last year.
And that kind of hatred, only comes from a Scott family mess.
As the case draws to a near close, I understand if he's more troubled than usual. It's only natural. I know the pain he has been nurturing inside, and it's vital he break out of that. The only solution being, his winning the case.
Maybe that will bring him some relief.
It would be disastrously difficult, fighting a legal case at this age, that too against someone as powerful and influential as Charles Scott. Not to mention the emotional turmoil that comes from them being father and son.
I get if he's tired. I get if he's losing hope. But I won't let him be defeated.
"I was there." Hardin plants his lips to my neck, speaking hushedly against it.
I don't say anything, as I try to understand his statement and fight the tingle that his touch sends.
"This morning before Dennis called, I was there. I was holding you and when I woke up, I pulled you to me, kissed you on the shoulder and watched you like a beautiful dream."
His lips brush with every word he speaks, making me smile and making my heart swell at his adorable gesture.
"I know." I nod again, now understanding why I had had the sensation.
