He had already been walking which makes me have to jog to reach him. I do in a minute and he removes his glasses before running a hand through his already messed hair after gazing down at his watch again.
"-you, you shouldn't even have a driving licence, because you're a life threat to the person riding shotgun."
He blissfully ignores me and keeps on strolling forward in his long strides as I march on to keep pace.
"You should have been arrested, now that I think about it, you should have been goddamned arrested!
And don't even dare consider this car method an option, because I am not dying at the hands of Hardin Scott in a convertible wheeler-"
"It's a 9-3 Aer-"
"It still crashes and topples and overturns and runs into cliffs, trees or trucks and kills people and gets you pulled over."
"Mhm." He hums raising his eyebrows, which I've realised he does so often, I'm actually going to shave the whole two sleek rows of hair. I step in front of him, placing my hands on my hips, all irked and he pauses.
"Are you even understanding, listening? If I'd been dead, my dumb heart would start beating again at the shock of that car ride, it was that electrifyingly intense. Because that's it, yes, you- are a defibrillator."
I shudder with a start as I realise my words, and apparently Hardin does too because he looks at me like- like he is. My defibrillator.
I don't know what made me say this, but on assessing it, the comparison is brutally accurate. He does jolt up my dead heart into beating, but, with electricity that fries up my nerves.
I start feeling a bit cold, and notice that I'm- taller than Hardin which is when I make out that we're standing on steps, me on one above his.
Judging by the coldness, I feel it could snow right now, enhancing this moment to a much more novel-romance level than it needs to be. I take a more conscious look at our surroundings.
