I take a sip of my coffee and stretch my neck to the side that feels sore from sitting too long. I gulp the bitterness with an exhale and cross my ankles. I check the time and there's still over an hour till my boarding and all I can think of is how much I hate waiting.

My cellphone buzzes in my pocket and I fish it out. If Trev asks me one more time where I am I'm going t- I pause at the name on the screen, before picking up.

"What?" I ask.

"Where the hell do you think you are? Usually when people have a home, they stay there-" Preston barks from the other end and I wonder what she is upto now.

I am tempted to hang up on her, but then I don't thinking it might be important, or it might be about Tessa.

"I'm about to fly dow-"

"I will hit you, okay. Do no push my buttons right now and give me a straight answer, where are you?" She cuts me off mid sentence not even believing me when I said the truth.

I scowl wistfully. Now I'm not telling her.

"I'm gonna say this one time Preston and if you don't answer I'm going to hang up in the most disrespectful way." I deadpan and I hear her sigh after a solid seven seconds.

"The stunt you pulled at the pageant yesterday. You were joking right?" She states rhetorically as if she knows the answer already.

I realise what it's all about, and honestly I should have seen this coming. Tessa would get it I always knew, but this five year old baby wouldn't because it would hit a pause on her favourite romcom movie that is her best friend's life.

"No." I state simply.

"No, he said no." She chuckles in amusement, suddenly talking in third person and when I don't reply there's a minute of silence ensuing.

"After being a selfish prick for all this while, this is the way you decide to choose being serious in life?" She retorts back after recovering and I sigh deeply.
