MUCH TO HERMES AND ROBIN'S RELIEF, BLAKE and Loki were in rooms close by. It did not take long to find and free them. They group then quickly got out of the area. Once they were out of the building, their powers were once more available to them. The only thing still bothering Robin was how HYDRA had managed to deactivate those powers in the first place. How does one take away a God's power? It did not make any sense.
The three who had been locked up looked pretty terrible. Marks from where they had been chained up, and cuts from the blowing up of the walls. The only thing that mattered, though, was that they were alive and able to run.
"Can you get us out of here?" Robin asked Hermes, panting slightly. Alarms were blaring in the distance. It would not be long before HYDRA troops were released into the forest they were hiding in to hunt them down.
"Of course I can," Hermes said with a scoff. In the blink of an eye, the group found themselves in a new environment. New York City.
Robin let out a sigh of relief. He had no idea where that HYDRA base was, considering the circumstances of their arrival, but he was glad to be gone. On the other hand, there was a new problem. They were in New York. Who else was located in New York? The Avengers. The very people Robin and Loki had been running from.
"Not to be rude or anything, but who are you and why did you bring us to New York?" Blake asked Hermes. They had a rather large cut on their forehead, but they did not seem to notice.
"The name's Hermes," The god replied, grinning. "And I figure this was where you wanted to be."
Robin scratched the back of his neck awkwardly. "Yeah, we're kind of on the run from the Avengers."
"Again?"
"You've done this before?" Blake questioned, furrowing their eyebrows.
Robin just shrugged. It was not his fault the Avengers had it out for him or something!
"Have you got it from here?" Hermes asked, turning to face Robin. The pink haired boy nodded. In a flash of light, Hermes was gone, leaving the three alone in New York.
Loki scoffed. "Perfect. Back where we started."
Blake crossed their arms. "Speak for yourself," They said. "I should be back in Canada right now. Do you know how much health care costs here?"
Robin gave them a blank look. "I live here," He deadpanned.
"And?"
"Yes, yes, the health care system sucks," Robin murmured in agreement. "I don't see what that has to do with anything though."
Blake threw their hands up in exasperation. "We're going to die!"
Loki shook his head. "You're being dramatic," He told them hotly.
Blake glared at him. "You're a god - you'll be fine. Me, on the other hand? Not so much." They plopped down to the floor. "I haven't even read Lord of the Rings yet!"
Robin gave them an unimpressed look. "That's your main concern?"
Blake, now sitting on the floor, shrugged. "If I'm going out, I'm going out in style. And also not in America."
Their pointless bickering was put to a forceful stop when people surrounded them. Not just any people. The Avengers. Robin groaned. Just his luck.
Only a few were missing of the group. Bruce was nowhere to be seen, and neither was Vision. Everyone else was certainly there. Quite a big crowd for just Loki and Robin - and of course Blake, but Robin was pretty sure the Avengers were not there for them. He did not expect for the superheroes to even know who they were.
He thought wrong.
Natasha's eyes widened in shocked at the sight of them, Hawaiian shirt ripped and blood on their face. "Blake?"
Blake smiled sheepishly. "Hey, pretty lady."
Robin glanced between the two, evident confusion on his face. He was not the only one. Most watched as Natasha put her gun back in the holster and ran over to Blake, engulfing them in a tight hug. Then she pulled back and inspected their face.
"Are you alright?" The redhead questioned worriedly.
Blake waved her off. "I'm fine, thanks to these two," They nodded their head towards Loki and Robin.
Robin smiled awkwardly when Natasha's gaze moved onto him. It was no secret that Natasha did not trust him. Never had. She had laid off him when he officially joined the team, but it was clear she had her suspicions. She was smart like that. But when she sent him a small nod, Robin knew he had earned her respect.
"Care to share with the class, Romanoff?" Tony questioned. He was in his Iron Man suit, which Robin found ridiculous. Was he really that much of a threat?
Natasha ignored him, instead helping Blake to their feet, so Robin took the liberty of speaking. "Long story, maybe another time, yeah?"
Thor angled his hammer towards the two who were getting ready to leave. "You are not going anywhere," He hissed.
Loki rolled his eyes. "You could use with a break, brother," He drawled sarcastically.
Robin smirked and nodded his head in agreement. "I agree with Wednesday Addams here. When was the last time you guys went out for a nice, long vacation far away from here?"
"You must find yourself so hilarious," Tony sarcastically replied.
Robin shrugged. "Well, I wouldn't say that, but since you did..."
Steve finally had enough with the banter, and threw his shield into the tree right beside Robin's head. Robin flinched, seeing the edge of the shield right beside his head. If Steve didn't have perfect accuracy... well, his head would not remain unharmed. "Enough," Steve snapped authoritatively. "No more clowning around."
Robin was not fazed by the tone Steve used. He was a demigod, after all. He had dealt with Hera. He could handle Captain America. He had before, after all. "What's got your panties in a twist, Boy Scout?" He mocked, tilting his head to the side. He had a plan to get out of this - he just had to stall long enough. He really was not looking forward to dealing with angry Avengers. So he left with Loki, unannounced? Why were the Avengers so worried about that?
Robin pulled the shield out of the tree, holding it with an amused grin. It was surprisingly light.
Iron Man aimed his hand out, blasters charging up. "Don't do anything you'll regret, kid."
Robin rolled his eyes. Really? He was way past regret. He regretted agreeing to help out the Avengers. So far it only brought him heartache. He was done with that. He could not afford having his feelings for Pietro Maximoff grow. He leant towards Loki. "On my signal, just run," He whispered, his voice falling mute to the Avengers surrounding them.
Loki nodded, signalling that he understood. Robin straightened his posture. He felt Pietro's eyes burning into him - in fact, multiple eyes burning into him. He could not linger of that though. He looked right back at Tony. "I think we both know it's too late for me to turn back, Batman," He said, his voice void of emotion.
Before anyone could even blink, Robin was throwing the shield back towards Steve with all the force he could muster - which was a lot. "Now!" He yelled at Loki, pushing the god as he himself started to run at full speed away from the area. Steve had managed to catch the shield before it hit his gut, but he went tumbling back.
The others were immediately on their tail, with the exception of Natasha who was staying with Blake. There was not much time before at least one of them caught up. Robin just hoped they could run fast enough.
