ROBIN WAS NOT SURE IF HE WAS GOING TO cry, have a panic attack, or both. This entire situation was too surreal. All this trouble, just because he ran into a cyclops. His only chance to not descend into a panic in front of Pietro was to focus on something else. Luckily, he was in a whole new environment with plenty of new things to focus on. For example, the ocean. Wait, the ocean?
His eyes widened significantly. "Shit!" He cursed, louder than the previous time.
"Where the hell are we?" Pietro asked in a tired voice, pushing himself to his feet as he scanned the area.
The two were on an island, that much was obvious. They landed on the rocks, which would likely leave them bruised. There were plenty of trees further away from the water.
"Like Hades should I know!" Robin snapped in reply. He was on the verge of a breakdown, and being near the ocean really did not help.
"I'm just asking!" Pietro retaliated with a huff, but his shoulders slumped and his expression softened when he remembered what his girlfriend - ex girlfriend - had said. "What Arielle said..." He trailed off, not quite knowing how to approach the situation.
Robin was too stressed to pick up on the change of tone. "Yeah, I'm gay! Who the fuck cares!" He ran a hand through his hair and pushed himself up. "What do you want me to say?! That it's not true? Because it is!"
"That's not what I meant..." Pietro said softly. He was heartbroken over the fact that the girl he was dating was working for HYDRA, and dating someone else, sure. But that did not compare to how Robin must be feeling. Pietro could not possibly imagine how it might feel to be outed to one of your closest... former closest friends.
Robin scoffed, and did not reply. Instead, he walked off. He did not want to have this conversation right now. It would mean he would break down, and he could not look weak right now. Was it selfish? Maybe. But Robin could not bring himself to care.
Pietro called out after him, but Robin was already too deep in the wooded area to hear. Pietro sighed. Perhaps it was for the best. After what happened, they both needed the space.
Robin did not know where he was going, but he had to scout the place he landed out. Then, the next logical course of action would be to teleport out of there. The only problem with that was that he could not just teleport anywhere in the world. He had a certain range, and since he had not trained that power as much as the ones he had most of his life.
A part of him wanted to go back and apologize. But he couldn't. Not now.
Time passed, and night fell over the island the two boys were trapped on. Robin found his way back to where he originally landed. Pietro was there, laying on the moss-covered rocks further away from the shoreline.
Wordlessly, Robin laid down beside him, facing the star filled sky. There was a silence over them, only the sound of the water hitting the rocks audible. Then, Robin spoke.
"I'm sorry," He uttered softly. So softly, Pietro thought he imagined it. But he turned his head to face the other boy, and saw him already looking at him.
"You have nothing to apologize for," Pietro replied, voice equally as low. "It's not like you cheated on me."
"I would never do that to you," Robin whispered, not realizing it was said out loud.
"What?" Pietro questioned, turning his body to the side completely in hopes of hearing better.
Robin flushed. "Nothing." Fuckfuckfuckfuck- was repeating in his head. He looked back towards the sky, trying to ignoring the heat flooding his body. He hated how he felt this way, and there was no stopping it. He could just hope that Pietro did not notice his flustered state.
A comfortable silence fell over them once again. Robin stared at the shining stars above him, finding peace in them. A few moments passed, and Pietro shuffled closer, until they were basically touching. Robin did not think it was possible for him to be any more flustered, but he was proven wrong in this moment.
"I hope you don't mind," Pietro murmured, his voice low (which may or may not have sent shivers down Robin's spine.) "We need the warmth."
"It's fine," Robin replied, wincing when his voice cracked. This was not going well (unless you counted him being this close to his crush, well.)
As time passed without another word spoken between the two, Robin felt his eyes threaten to close. Unable to keep them open, he descended into a calm sleep, listening to the breathing of the boy next to him. Robin and Pietro fell asleep, unaware of the frantic panicked behaviour of the Avengers back in New York.
