ROBIN DIDN'T KNOW WHY THOR was so shocked by Rocket's proclamation. He seemed like the type to steal stuff. Besides, he's a talking raccoon from space. What did you expect? No one answered the god's exclamation. Robin chose to focus on the screen. Where was that building? It seemed familiar, but he couldn't put a finger on it. Had he been there before? It was possible. He'd been almost all over the world on quests or side adventures.
"Yep, that's definitely the guy I stole from," Rocket affirmed as he too watch the television screen.
"He probably followed you here," Robin muttered, his annoyance seeping through. "Maybe think before you steal."
"Hey!" The raccoon barked. "I did it with good intentions! The weapons could've been used to destroy planets!" He defended himself. Groot idly nodded from beside him. It was technically true, especially with the way things were looking.
"I am Groot."
"Yes, we should find our friends first," Thor agreed, putting emphasis on the our part. Groot had apparently just forgotten about the Avengers. It was understandable, to Robin at least. Were they really that important?
Robin pulled out his phone. First he tried to contact Kiera, but no answer. The same thing happened with Sam. Before he could even think about phoning Citrix, he got a call. Coincidentally, it was from Citrix. He didn't hesitate to pick up.
"What in Pluto's name did you do, Robin?" Citrix asked, more frightened than angry.
"Why would you assume it was me?" Robin shot back quietly, keeping the conversation as private as he could at the moment.
"My boyfriend's eyes just turned blue and he just, walked out! Mortals aren't supposed to do that, Rob! Whenever stuff like this happens, it's usually connected to you. So what did you do?!" Citrix was crying, that much was clear, and his voice shaky.
Robin sighed. "Look, I'm sorry, but I have no idea what's going on. My friends did the same thing!" He glanced back towards the television screen. "I think there's an alien behind it?" He said, but it came out as more of a question.
"Of course it is," The brunette mumbled. "You better find a way to fix this, Robin. None of us can handle any more heartbreak." He sighed quietly. "If you need help, please, call me."
"Yeah. I will." Without so much of a goodbye, he was hung up on. He put his phone back in his pocket and ran a hand through his hair. What was he going to do about this mess? For all he knew, the entire world could be enslaved by an alien right now. Gods, why was the pressure always on him?
The others didn't seem any less concerned. Yes, they had dealt with aliens before (well, everyone except Robin had), but none of them had gotten superheroes to turn to their side in a split second. Sure, Loki has done that, with a few people and by being there in person, but this was different. And different was scary.
After staring at the screen for less than a minute, Thor stormed up to the lab, the other four rushing to follow him. As a god, his movements were pretty fast, even when not running. Luckily for Robin, he was a demigod, so he also had speed. Loki didn't have a problem keeping up either, but Rocket and Groot trailed a bit behind. Not by much, however, as they caught up quickly.
Thor was rummaging through the various inventions and machines Tony had in his lab, being not very careful. The clanking of metal on metal could be heard loud and clear. Robin had no idea what he was doing, but he was pretty sure Tony wouldn't be happy about it.
"Thor! What in Hades are you doing?" He asked, going to pull the man's arm back from doing any serious damage. With a bit of struggle, he succeeded. "Do you want the Flying Tin Can mad when he comes back? Are you trying to start a Civil War?"
The god was quick to shove the boy away. "I don't care how mad Stark will be," Thor stated, his voice louder than it had been the last time he spoke. "I'm going to find my friends no matter what the cost."
Robin admired his determination, he really did. It reminded him of himself, if anything else. That was a terrifying thought. Him and Thor, the same? While not far fetched, it wasn't nice to think about. Robin hated being compared to a god, no matter who it was. whether it be his father, a minor god or a god from a different mythology, he hated it all the same. Thor wasn't like him. Not that much. The god was much more handsome, as much as Robin hated to admit it, and much more of a hero. Yet Robin almost felt like he could trust him.
Almost.
You may think it crazy not to trust the people you live with, but you're not Robin. Hell, you might not even be a demigod. Robin had experienced too many betrayals, heartbreaks and had gotten used too many times in his life to trust someone again. His father hardly acknowledged him, his mother died, the gods all either hated him, kidnapped him or wanted something from him (with a few exceptions), and some of his closest friends died or betrayed him.
Robin shook his head, ridding himself of his thoughts. "We don't even know where they are," He stated as calmly as he could. Apparently he was too calm for the god's liking, because he turned on him. In a split second, the demigod found himself sprawled uncomfortably on the floor.
"You be quiet! We don't even know anything about you, yet you've been living with us for almost a year. How do I know you're not a spy?" Thor demanded, a sharp glare piercing through Robin's soul.
What hurt him the most wasn't the hit, or his body colliding with the hard floor. It was that his words were true. Robin hadn't been honest with them. Wanda had stated this before: they didn't know anything about him.
Robin pushed himself back to his feet, returning the god's glare. "I don't spy," He snapped. There were many things he hated in this world, and one of them was being accused of working with the enemy.
Thor eyed him, not convinced. Finally, he turned to his brother. "Can't you use your... witch powers to find out where they are?" He asked
Loki rolled his eyes. "For the last time, brother, I am not a witch," He replied.
"Yet you continue to dress like one."
"Ladies, ladies, you're all pretty ugly. Now can we get back on task?" Rocket asked sharply, arms crossed and an annoyed look on his furry face.
