THE INTERROGATIONS had gone smoothly. Even Loki was surprisingly compliant. None of the information given by Loki and Blake was useful to finding out where Robin was, however. It did mean that the two were free though, and allowed to roam around the tower.
Blake had allowed Clint to explain (read, fanboy) their powers, which led to Steve inviting them to stay. Blake agreed, after seeing the look on Natasha's face, even if it was just for a bit.
As the week dragged on, though, there was no sign of Robin Carter anywhere. In reality, Robin was completely fine. In fact, he was better than fine. He had been working on his powers, trying to stabilize them, despite not understanding them.
Currently, he had chosen to finally visit dear old dad. He strolled into the Empire State Building casually, wearing a baseball cap he had reluctantly bought from the camp store, and a pair of sunglasses, hoping to stay discreet. His bright orange shirt, however, kind of ruined that.
After a quick annoyed rant at the guy at the front desk, Robin was finally on his way up to the 600th floor. The elevator music really had not improved, and the pink haired boy made a mental note to talk to Apollo about that later. Seriously, you're the god of music and you can't even pick good elevator music for a 600 floor ride? That had to be a sign. Of what, Robin was not completely sure.
After what felt like a lot longer than it was, the elevator doors opened, a soft ding going off. Robin stepped off, standing tall and trying not to show his anxiety.
He was quick to spot Hera, and gulped nervously. He bowed to her. "Queen Hera," He greeted politely.
"Oh, Robin Carter, what a surprise," She greeted in turn. Robin was unable to detect her tone, but he was able to tell that she was not angry with him (due to him being alive.)
Robin offered a smile. "Is dad around?" He asked.
Hera scoffed. "He'll be back soon," She stated. "If I know my husband, I know he is out doing something he should not be doing." She shook her head. She gestured for a chair beside her that Robin could have sworn was not there before. "Come, sit. It has been awhile."
Unable to refuse, Robin did as she said. "It has," He agreed.
"What brings you here?"
Robin rubbed the back of his neck awkwardly. "I, uh, well my powers have been... weird. I was hoping dad could help me figure it out."
Hera nodded thoughtfully. Despite being hated by most of the fandom, Robin respected her greatly. I mean, without her, Gaia would not have been stopped and the camps would never get along. And she dealt with Zeus for so long, so Robin had to give her credit for that.
"I see," The queen of the gods said. "That must be difficult."
Robin shrugged. "Only a lot," He agreed. It did get him out of a difficult situation, but there was no telling how many situations it would get him into.
Before Hera could say anything more, Zeus walked in. In all of his dramatic glory. If he were anyone else, Robin would have been shaking in his shoes. But this was his father. While absent (of course, since he's the king of the gods,) Zeus was a surprisingly okay dad. Robin knew, as he had figured out since their first meeting, that Zeus cared a lot for him, even if he did not show it in the most convenient way.
"Robin, my son!" Zeus exclaimed, immediately spotting the mess that was Robin Carter.
Robin waved awkwardly. "Hey, dad." Before he could say more, explain why he was here, his was picked up from the chair and forced into a bear hug from the king of the gods himself. As if his life could not get any weirder.
"What brings you here?" Zeus inquired, letting the demigod back down.
"Uh, right," Robin chuckled nervously, not sure how to explain it right. "I think I have new abilities and I was hoping you could help me figure it out," He ended up blurting.
Zeus nodded. "Come with me," He ordered. Robin obeyed, giving a wave goodbye to Hera as he did. Zeus teleported the two to a big open field. Robin glanced around, somehow unfazed by the fact that he was just teleported to a new location.
"Where are we?" He questioned his father.
Zeus shrugged. "Somewhere in Nevada," He replied carelessly. "Now, listen carefully," He instructed, "I will be explaining to you the new powers you say you got. Do not take this lightly."
Robin nodded, showing he understood. Without further ado, Zeus explained to Robin all the powers his demigod children have ever had. He talked about teleportation (which Robin had already discovered,) and every other potential thing that Robin would be able to do. This included powering up and control machines, create force fields and to climb sheer surfaces. It was safe to say that Robin was surprised. Even more so when Zeus put a hand on the boy's shoulder, staring at him in the eyes.
"Be careful," He instructed. "It will not be easy to figure out how it works, you know this." Zeus gestured to the only tree in the entire field. "Try to teleport there," He instructed.
After sending his father a look of doubt, Robin tried. At first, he thought it worked, but when he looked around he saw that he was not at the tree. No, he was at the top of a mountain. He yelped and fell back when he realized he was about to fall, before slapping himself since he could literally fly. With a sigh, he tried again. Then again. And again.
Finally, when the moon was high in the sky and stars shining down on him, he had made it back to the exact spot her started, Zeus still there, looking bored. Robin concentrated, and next thing he knew, he was up in the tree he was trying to teleport to.
He heard his father's booming laugh. "Jeez, is dad All Might, or what?" Robin murmured to himself, shifting in the uncomfortable branches that were poking his arms. He knew his father would not understand the reference (if he even heard it) seeing as he decided to spend his immortal life fucking pretty women instead of watching the entirety of Netflix with his wife. Yeah, great father figure.
"Now it's up to you to learn your abilities," He heard his father say from right below. Robin gulped. He had to work on this, alone? His father teleported the two of them back to Camp Half-Blood, knowing that it was were Robin was staying. Robin landed on his bed in the Zeus cabin, leaves in his hair and on his clothes. "Goodbye, son," Zeus said before disappearing.
"Robin?" Asked a tired Jason from his bunk.
Robin bit his lip. "Yeah, it's me," He replied, sounding equally, if not more, tired than his brother. "Go back to sleep, Jay." Robin did not bother changing or anything. He just collapsed on the bed, falling into a dreamless sleep seconds after Jason did.
