Winter Snow

That night he left forever

Though it was against his will

He was so devasted

Oh, he cries about it still

But before he left her house

He took with him a piece of her

A lovely winter coat

Lined with the softest fur

It reminded him of times

When their days were filled with smiles

When he holds it, he's transported back

If only for a while

She used to wear it in the snow

He could picture crystal flakes

But as reality sets in

From his sweet daydream he must wake

And no matter how he tried

He never could let go

And no matter what he tells himself

He misses that girl so

And when his sister needed money

To help pay for her kid's school

He refused to sell that winter coat

Though doing so was cruel

And when his neice got the chills

From the brutal winter air

He refused to lend that coat to her

The one thing he would not share

And when his mother needed help

Something soft to keep her warm

No, of course he would not give it up

She did not need to be informed

One by one, he lost them all

Each person he once loved the most

Gave them up for that one girl

That he could not keep close

And then it happened, one spring day

He saw her after all those years

Walking with her own family

And it brought that man to tears

She had a husband and a child,

Such a pretty little thing,

And that is when it hit him hard,

He gave up everything

For a person he once knew

A long, long time ago

He pushed everyone away

To live in that past winter snow
