Thirteen Days

Soon the wounds will reopen

Seeing the past in your eyes

Imperative words were unspoken

Pain that I can't disguise

Soon my heart's rebellion

Will slow to a miserable end

Upon your sudden arrival

It had just begun to mend...

Soon I will have to face you

And the pain that you have brought

Without him there beside me

To help fight for what must be fought

Soon your smiles and laughter

Will seem so empty and cold

All the things that had once made me happy

Will seem overused and old

Soon the sun will be rising

And reality will set in

We'll both have to face the lies

And the battle will begin
