I'm That Girl

I'm that girl.

The quiet one, the one that is overlooked.

The one that lets herself get walked all over

If it means she can have even a second of their time.

I'm that girl.

The one that is so insecure

That she sometimes is afraid to even speak.

The one that watches in awe

As others wear their hearts so openly on their sleeves.

I'm that girl.

The one that secretly wishes

For things that will never come

Not because they're impossible

But because she does not believe she deserves them.

I'm that girl.

The one that will push people away

In fear of them breaking her somewhere down the line.

The one that gets too attached

And her paper heart bleeds with even the slightest tear.

But I'm not that girl.

I'm not, I swear.

Inside, I'm someone new.

But once you've been labeled

It's hard to move on,

Your old self will stick like glue.
