Take Flight

My paper heart's been torn apart,

It's surface now crumpled and dull.

What used to be a steady beat,

Has slowed to a defeaning lull.

These scars have served their purpose,

These tears have failed to mend,

With each I have grown colder,

As love comes to an end.

But with you it's different,

With you I can finally breathe,

With you there's no competition

No girls for whom I seethe.

In your blue eyes I find comfort.

For me, that is very rare.

Thank god I have found you,

To you, no one can compare.

I once thought I'd found love,

But now you've shown me the light,

Like an angel sent from heaven,

Beside you, I take flight.
