Once You Let Go

The burning and the crying and the pain

It took it out of her, pride went right down the drain

And it came to the point where it was just to much

Some where down the line, with herself she'd lost touch

She looked in the mirror and stared back at a stranger

In too deep, didn't realize the danger

But it wasn't too late to turn it around

She took the leap and landed, feet on the ground

She awoke with a smile in the middle of the night

Surpassed the darkness, she'd reached the light

And she stared at the stars with hope in her eyes

She hated being someone that she didn't recognize

She found herself again in the darkest of days

Letting go of the sickness, the foggy haze

Her own fears had kept her from reaching for her dreams

She gained back her courage and her self esteem

Stopped fearing rejection, it kept her down

Learned to love herself, not simply hide her frown

Celebrate the difference, stopped burying the shame

Found comfort in her writing and took pride in her name
