"Loki?" I had managed to crawl out of Natasha's arms to come to the kitchen for a drink and to be honest a break from everyone. Only to find Loki hanging onto the island in the kitchen clearly having a panic attack of some sorts.
Well done Y/N forget there's a tortured soul in your house, have a melt down and bring extra people into the house, that's gonna help him!
I reached my hand out towards him to comfort him.
His eyes darted to me and I stopped, "I'm not going to hurt you, ok?"
He nodded, seemingly conflicted with something going on in his head and trying to breathe.
"Loki look at me..." I said as I cupped my hand to his cheek.
"You are safe here, no one is going to hurt you. Ok? I won't let them. Hell they will have to get through me first....deep breaths, that's it, focus on my eyes and breathe with me...slowly...in....and out......in.....and out. That's it." I smiled at him and we continued for a few minutes longer.
His eyes were locked on mine, his breathing eventually starting to even out. I smiled weakly at him dropping my hand from his face.
"I'm sorry I scared you like that. It was foolish of me. I forgot. My...my emotions. The....the pain just came rushing back and I...I can't....." my voice trailed off and I closed my eyes.
"I just can't let him break me again Loki. I can't let him take back the part of me I just got back." I had no idea why I was opening up to him. Hell he didn't need to hear my shit, but he stayed.
He reached up to stroke my cheek with his thumb for a split second. As his skin connected with mine. I heard his voice. But he didn't speak.
Maybe we are more alike than I thought...
My eyes darted to his face..."How? How did....I heard that....you... you didn't speak."
Loki's face dropped and he pulled his hand away abruptly. Putting some distance between us.
"You heard that?" His voice was almost a whisper.
I nodded, bewildered. "Yes....."
"Y/N? You ok down there?" Nat's voiced carried down the hall.
"Yeah be right there just needed some water." I lied.
Loki rubbed his hand down his face, "I have no idea how you heard that Y/N. I won't lie to you though, I've been trying to read your thoughts over the past 24 hours, but I can't seem to get into your mind. I have had a few flashes here and there, like when you were drunk. I just thought it was some of my magic coming back. Obviously not enough to teleport or anything especially with this idiotic thing," he pointed to his wrist. "Maybe it's more than that. If you can keep me out the rest of the time." He looked at me again, clearly puzzled. Before Nat called again.
I sighed, "So I wasn't imagining the weird feeling in my head. That was you?"
He nodded sheepishly, "Yes, sorry. You intrigue me."
I shook my head at him, brushing off that comment, "Well let's go get this over with. You don't have to listen, it's nowhere near as bad as what you have clearly went through and I....well I'm sure you don't want to be burdened with my problems. You have healing of your own to do Loki." I touched his arm before walking slowly back to the living room ready to face the past that I thought was just that. The past.
With that began the long torturous process of reliving the hell I had lived in.
I sighed and looked at them.
