We left my room and headed down the stairs, before we reached the kitchen Loki pulled me to an abrupt stop in the hall.
"Is...is this ok?" He gestured to his outfit.
I bit my lip to try and hide the smirk on my face. Was he nervous?
He was wearing a pair of black trousers, black shoes and a green button up shirt. Leaving a button or two open for a more casual look. Personally I thought he looked delectable.
"Loki, you look extra handsome, calm down. Just be yourself. Mum isn't like most people. Trust me." I gave him a quick kiss reassuringly before dragging him into the kitchen.
"Mum! We are here!" I announced.
She spun around from the counter, stopping to take in the God that was attempting to hide behind me. Her eyebrows raised as he finally stepped out from behind me allowing her to get the full view of him.
"Mum, meet Loki. Loki, this...this is my Mum."
Loki stepped forward taking my Mum's hand, bowing before her and placing a kiss on her knuckles, "It's a pleasure to meet you Mrs YL/N."
"Oh Dear, there will be less of that. Now get over here and give me a hug!" Mum grabbed Loki wrapping her arms around his torso, she looked so tiny compared to him it was almost comical.
Loki looked at me in shock, seemingly slightly uncomfortable with the sudden contact. Close contact with people really wasn't his thing, let alone hugs from strangers!
Much to my surprise though he gave in and returned it cautiously. I couldn't help but laugh at the sight of the two of them.
Someone's looking brownie points!
He shot me a look. Before Mum finally let go of him, "I might have to keep him for myself lovebug. He's rather handsome isn't he?" She said as she reached up and patted Loki's chest, admiring him again as he laughed nervously at her.
"You are too kind Mrs YL/N," Loki smiled, his face turning a shade of pink.
"Oh don't encourage him Mum, his ego is big enough without you adding fuel to the fire!" I teased. "I don't have time to start making holes in the door frames so he can get his big head through them!"
"Heeyyyy!" Loki exclaimed looking down at me as he wrapped his arm around my waist, pretending to be hurt by my comment. I looked up at him and stuck my tongue out at him teasingly.
Mum looked at us laughing, "Well he is a God dear! I'm sure he's used to a little praise now and then."
She went silent for a moment then clasped her hands together in front of her, smiling gently at us, "Oh lovebug, look. You two are glowin." She reached up wiping a tear from her eye.
"Awh, no Mum don't cry, you know if you start blubbering then I will too!"
"Oh I'm not cryin dear, just got somethin in my eye is all." She lied. "Now go show this fine gentleman, oh NO WAIT! Your a God! Sorry, show this very handsome God around the ranch. Lunch will be ready soon." She ushered us out the back door.
With that I took Loki around the ranch, filling him in on the history of the horses and the bloodline Dad had spent years building and his Father before him. He listened intently to every word I said, I could almost see the cogs turning in his brain as he digested the information. He asked me about how I got into showjumping when this was clearly a working farm, I explained that story to him as well.
As we rounded the corner to the paddocks a high pitched whinny, along with the sound of thundering hooves had us both spinning around.
Zeus had spotted us and was charging over towards us, he slid to a halt at the gate, causing dust to rise from the ground like a cloud of smoke. He pushed his head into Loki's arm, in response Loki reached up and stroked his neck as Zeus continued to nuzzle into him.
