Kim Sunwoo

It was about 9pm and Sunwoo had decided to swim a few laps in his pool. His parents went out to dinner with a client, they said they'd be back before midnight so he just wanted to kill some time.

It was actually quite mind-calming, nothing but him and the water, the muffled music when he was underwater. He hadn't actually been in his pool for a while, he missed it.

It also gave him time to think. Think about his plans for the future, plans for the present. He wanted to study music theory in Busan, they had one of the best programs in the country. They had a 20% acceptance rate every year and if Sunwoo wanted to be part of that 20% he could not afford to lose focus.

But it was hard when the boy he was in love with keeps needing to be rescued. Sunwoo didn't know anyone who didn't need a little rescue, but it was a problem when they make it a habit to be rescued. Just like others make it a habit to jump in after them.

Sunwoo was always trying to fix Chanhee's drama. He wouldn't call it drama pre se, but he honestly couldn't think of a better word.

He convinced Mrs. Chen to give Chanhee a retake, he threatened Chanhee's fling, he even tagged along to that stupid party Chanhee didn't want to go alone to. That's where the whole ordeal started in the first place. With Chanhee he was always spinning and twirling, crashing into himself trying to protect Chanhee. He'd always been Chanhee's crash pad, and for no good reason other than loving him a little more than he should.

But Chanhee would never see it, Sunwoo was just Chanhee's best friend. He just wished they could be more. Having feelings for Chanhee was starting to feel like a chore. And he really didn't want it to, but it was exhausting.

Sunwoo swam up to the edge, where he found Chanhee sitting on a lounge chair.

"I knocked, then I heard music in the backyard and figured you'd be back here." Chanhee explained before Sunwoo could even ask.

"Yeah, I just wanted to clear my head for a bit." Sunwoo chuckled, lifting himself out of the pool to grab his towel that sat on the other lounge chair next to Chanhee.

"Is everything alright?" Chanhee asked.

Sunwoo nodded. "Yeah, everything's fine. So why'd you come?"

Chanhee sighed. "We'll my dad is stuck at the hospital and my mom went to dinner with her friends so I was home alone. I figured I'd see what you're up to."

"Well I'm gonna grab a shower, you can wait upstairs in my room if you want. I won't be long." Sunwoo said, picking up his belongings from the same lounge chair.

Chanhee agreed and walked into the house ahead of Sunwoo.

Sunwoo tossed his towel into the counter and put his phone to charge next to the bathroom mirror. As he was waiting for the water to warm up he received a text message from Eric.
