★Kim Sunwoo★
The next day at school was very awkward. Chanhee and Sunwoo had crossed paths, but it was just an exchange of awkward eye contact of like "what do I do, do I just look away? Do I smile?".
And even in the classes they shared, they both went out of their way so they wouldn't have to interact with each other.
Now it was lunch time and Sunwoo was sitting alone outside in the courtyard under the gazebo behind the school. He had his lunch off to the side as he worked on some of his homework.
He had to finish a rough draft of a play script assigned to him by his literature teacher. Basically every year their school had some students write a play script, and the best script chosen by the teachers gets a one-time production in the schools auditorium.
This would be Sunwoo's first year submitting a script. His teacher suggested he do it, complimenting his creative and informative writing. So Sunwoo thought it wouldn't hurt to try.
After all Sunwoo had so much going on in his life he could write a sequel.
Sunwoo had stopped writing five minutes ago. His play was about unrequited love. Yeah, cheesy. But it was something he could write an entire series about, so might as well use his pain for some gain.
Out of nowhere a pair of hands settled over his eyes.
"Guess who."
Sunwoo smiled immediately.
"Eric?"
"Good guess."
Eric giggled and took his hands off his eyes and sat in front of him.
"What are you working on?" He asked.
"Oh nothing, just a play script my literature teacher asked me to work on. It's crap, but it's my senior year. I thought I'd try some things I've never done." Sunwoo shrugged.
"What's it about?" Eric leaned over the table to read. "It's called Limerence?"
Sunwoo nodded.
"Yeah, it's a type of unrequited love. Like I said, it's crap. It probably won't even make it through the first round of voting, but I do enjoy the writing process."
"I'd vote for it." Eric smiled kindly.
"You haven't even read it. Besides it's not finished so..."
"I'd vote for it because I don't know anyone with a better understanding of love than you." Eric finished.
Sunwoo looked up at Eric who was smiling softly.
This is the feeling of comfort and peace he was referring to. The amount potential that Eric saw in him made him feel like he could truly do anything.
It could be the stupidest decision Sunwoo ever made and Eric would still make him feel like it was the best decision he could ever make.
Eric looks at you, and he sees you for who you are and what you can be. He looks at you, and you want to be the person that he sees. He looks at you, and you want to be worth the effort.
You want to be worth his effort.
"What do you think love feels like?" Sunwoo suddenly asked. He was genuinely curious.
Eric seemingly thought about it, as he did for a minute.
"I think when you love someone, every sacrificed you have to make, I think it's worth it. Like when you look at them, you see the best in them. You see them as someone worth loving, and I think that's enough to know." He said subconsciously smiling.
"I used to think love was something physical." Sunwoo started. "I thought it was being attracted to someone's physical appearance, the way they looked."
"What changed your mind?" Eric asked.
"I met someone. They're the last person I expected to fall for."
As Sunwoo spoke, he realized. Quite literally as he spoke.
"He's...he's someone that always sees the best in me. He sees me for who I am and who I want to be. I like that. I like that he sees me." Sunwoo was now talking more to himself than he was to Eric.
He didn't even realize that he just confessed to being in love with a boy.
"I work hard at what I do because...because I don't want to disappoint him. But he's always proud of me, good decisions or not. I like being the person that he sees."
That's when the panic set in.
Oh my god.
Sunwoo started packing his things hastily, worrying Eric.
"Are you okay?" The blond asked.
"I'm fine I just- I have to go I'm sorry." Sunwoo basically sprinted off campus, leaving Eric worried and confused.
Oh god, Sunwoo you are so screwed.
