★Eric Sohn★
The morning of, Eric woke up first. Sunwoo had insisted on sleeping on the floor. Something about respecting Eric's space until their relationship changed. Which he actually understood, they've only dated like two weeks.
Eric rolled over to the edge of the bed to admire his boyfriend. He was still sleeping on the air mattress they blew up before they went to bed. Sunwoo was sleeping with on hand behind his head and the other laying on his stomach.
He looked tense, his eyes looked like they were squeezed shut and his brows were furrowed. Eric felt bad. Sunwoo would probably wake up really tired. They were up until about 2:00am.
Eric couldn't understand how anyone could ever wish harm upon someone so endearing.
Sunwoo was kind, he was passionate, but most of all he was loyal. Being someone Sunwoo deeply cared for was a privilege. Because when he loves, he does it with his whole heart. He would risk life and limb for you.
When someone hurts the people he loves he goes to great lengths to be there for you. He's always by your side no matter what.
Eric has never met anyone as loyal to their loved ones as Sunwoo. He was incredibly selfless and would never put his own needs before yours. Which was both good and bad. But he did it anyway, because that's just who he is.
Just then Eric heard some keys jingle downstairs. His parents were home.
He rushed out of bed to go greet them downstairs so they wouldn't come up to his room and see Sunwoo.
Once he made it downstairs his parents were already walking into the kitchen.
"Hi, Youngjae." His dad said with a smile.
His mom was moody as always so he didn't even bother trying with her.
"Hi, dad." Eric replied.
"Why aren't you at school, kid?" Eric's dad asked.
"I just have some more important things to take care of today." Eric shrugged.
"Okay. Baby, why don't you go get some sleep?" Mr. Sohn said to his wife. "I'll have something for you to eat when you wake up."
She nodded and walked away without a word.
"Okay, well I still have a lot of homework to do so I'll head upstairs too." Eric said quickly.
"Wait, Eric. Can I talk to you, please?" Mr. Sohn asked before Eric could leave.
"Sure. What about?" Eric stayed.
"It's Sunwoo. He didn't show up to work yesterday. Do you know where he is?" Mr. Sohn asked.
"Yeah. Yeah, he's okay. He's just got some family stuff."
"Oh. Okay, well could you tell him that he still needs to call me if he's not going to show up." Eric's dad said before he followed his wife up the stairs.
Eric rushed back upstairs to his bedroom Sunwoo awake and folding the blankets he used the night prior.
"Hey. You're awake." Eric smiled.
Sunwoo nodded with the same smile. "Yup. I was thinking, we should get some breakfast. I can bring you back before I go home."
"Are you sure? You let out a lot last night." Eric frowned.
"Do you just not want me to go?" Sunwoo asked with a mischievous smile.
"And what if I don't?" Eric replied with a cheeky grin.
"Come here." Sunwoo extended his hand.
Eric walked right into Sunwoo's embrace, draping his arms over Sunwoo's shoulders.
"I know we haven't seen each other in a couple days and for that I'm sorry. But I need to see my parents. After that I will come pick you up and we can go on a real date. How does that sound?" Sunwoo asked gently.
Eric smiled softly.
"I can work with that." He said.
"Good. Now I have to get going. Can't wait to hear what they have to say." Sunwoo sighed, collecting his things.
Before Eric let Sunwoo walk out he cupped Sunwoo's face and kissed his lips. Sunwoo happily returned the kiss.
"I love you." Eric whispered as they pulled away.
Sunwoo smiled softly and gave Eric another peck.
"Go." Eric said, ushering Sunwoo out with a smile.
Sunwoo made it out to his car and headed home.
When he got home his parents car was surprisingly still in the driveway. Inside they were both sitting at the kitchen island.
"Sunwoo!" His mother cried. "Where have you been? We were so worried!"
"I stayed at a friends house." Sunwoo replied in a dry tone.
"Listen, son. Can we talk?" Mr. Kim asked, gesturing to the empty chair next to them.
Sunwoo nodded and sat down without a word.
"After you stormed out last night, we did some thinking." Mr. Kim started. "And you were right. Our work did come before you. But we never meant for that to happen. Sunwoo we love you so much, you're our son and we should have believed you. But we do now. And we're sorry."
Sunwoo looked over at his mother.
"Baby, we are really sorry. From now on you will always be our priority. We'll be staying home a lot more and we'll be spending more time as a family. We love you, Sunwoo." She said cupping his cheek.
There it is. The love, the affectionate touch he's been yearning for from his mother for years. He couldn't keep the smile from breaking out on his face.
"I love you guys, too." Sunwoo said before going in to hug his parents. It was their first family hug in years. Man did it feel good.
"And we're really sorry that you've been suspended, baby. We do know how important school is to you, and I wanna make sure that you know we'll do everything to make sure that's not over yet." Mrs. Kim said.
"What do you mean?" Sunwoo asked.
"There's going to be a hearing next week, they want to ask parents, students, and the school board if you and that other kid should be permanently expelled. We were asked to speak along with Younghoon's parents. We'll be there." Mr. Kim added.
Sunwoo was tearing up.
"You guys have no idea how much this means to me. Thank you. Thank you so much." Sunwoo cried.
"Of course, baby. This is what parents are for, and from now on we will be better ones." His mother said as she pulled Sunwoo into her embrace once again.
They were finally a family again.
