The next day, Naveen and Mia made their way to the Interns and Resident's Locker Room, going to let them know about the newest part of their learning, when a single intern a week would get the great chance to shadow and work one-on-one with Dr. Singh.
"What a glorified babysitting program." Mia said, rolling here eyes as they walked.
"It's not the most ideal situation, but it's the best for both parties." Naveen said, as Mia sighed.
"Yeah, I guess." Mia said defeatedly. "Still sucks."
"I know kiddo." Naveen said, as the two of them walked into the locker room, the interns all waiting together.
At the sight of the two, they slightly cowered, thinking they did something wrong.
"Hello everyone." Naveen said. "We are here to speak to you about a new part of our teaching program at Edenbrook, specific to the interns."
"What is it?" One intern asked, looking between Naveen and Mia. Naveen glanced sideways to the younger attending beside him, as she sighed.
"Well, as you all know, I was caught up in the assassination attempt on the Senator almost two years ago now." Mia said. "That, coupled with my current twin pregnancy led to me collapsing in one of the hallways last week. This so-called 'program' will be that every week, an intern will be shadowing me, figuring out how I operate between being a Family Practitioner and a Diagnostician on the Diagnostics Team, and you will also be receiving experience taking care of an unstable groundbreaking patient." Mia said, as the interns continued to stare.
"Dr. Singh has chosen to share her charts and history with all of you, so you will all be briefed on her condition and what we know so far." Naveen said, as the interns looked nervously at one another. "We take care of our own around here, and I hope that you all will take advantage of this amazing opportunity to learn from one of our brightest, and that you do your part in making sure everyone involved is okay." Naveen said, before looking down at the papers in his hand. "First intern to work this week is... Dr. Tracy Jackson."
"We'll be waiting for you outside, the rest of you are free to go." Mia said, as she and Naveen walked outside the locker room.
"Dinner at our place tonight?" Mia asked, as Naveen nodded.
"Anna and I will be there." Naveen said, as some of the interns started coming outside. "I should head off, are you sure you're alright?"
"I am, Naveen." She said with a small smile. "Not letting anything happen to them."
"Good." He said, quickly hugging Mia, before pulling away and starting to go towards his office. "Be nice!" He yelled once he got a couple feet away, making Mia roll her eyes.
Inside, the intern pushed her things into her locker, grabbing a water bottle and turning to her friends.
"You're fucked Trace." One of her friends said.
"I don't know, remember when I told you about when I heard her in that Lab Waiting Room?" Tracy asked, recounting the day before when she heard Mia and Rafael talking in the room after Mia collapsed. "She's probably just really strict on us, and now that she's working closer with us I bet she'll show more of her true self."
"Yeah right." Tracy's friend, Andrew said. "Both her and Dr. Ramsey seem pretty cold and rough, even if those kids make it, they got a long road ahead of them."
"That's messed up Drew." Another friend said.
"Whatever, I have to go before I make a bad first impression for all the interns." Tracy said, saying a quick bye to her friends, flicking Andrew on the forehead, and making her way out of the room.
