"Ethan!" a quiet yet excited voice exclaimed, waking Ethan up. He looked up to see Mia, lightly shaking him awake from his slumber.
"What time is it?" he said in a deep and tired voice, squinting his eyes as they adjusted to the light.
"Had to wake you up right before your alarm. We can't really do anything today but I thought I might do something small in the morning before we have to head back to the White House." she said. The fact that Mia, the one who hates mornings, awoke and got ready before his early alarm even rang was astonishing. She stood there in black jeans and a baby blue shirt, her hair in her natural waves cascading down her shoulders.
"Happy Birthday baby" she said with a warm smile as Ethan pulled her down into bed next to him, hugging her tightly as she giggled. "If we don't get up we won't be able to see the surprise I made for you."
Ethan continued to hold her tightly, with her body laying down in front of his as he laid on his side, snuggling his face into the crook of her neck. He could instantly smell the scent of her vanilla body soap and strawberry shampoo, causing him to smile. "Just give me a second to enjoy this." he said as he held her for a couple more moments before the both of them got up and they headed out.
As they walked out into the kitchen, they saw Tobias, Baz, and Naveen standing next to the penthouse dining table, with a great breakfast on the table. "You forced them to wake up early and help you out with all this?" Ethan said, looking at the pancakes, waffles, omelettes, and fruits on the table.
"Nope, she got up super early and did all this, our part was to just wake up and look pretty." Baz said.
Naveen came forward and hugged Ethan, saying "Happy Birthday Son." After that Tobias stepped up and bro hugged Ethan, Baz doing the same after. They then sat down at the table, all eating their breakfast.
"Alright boys, here's the plan." Mia said. "Today, we've got AOC's press conference and making sure that she's well enough to take out of our care. Then, tomorrow, well spend some time at a couple museums and sightseeing, then Ethan and I will break away for a couple hours, and then I have a reservation at some snazzy restaurant for dinner for all of us and then we'll FINALLY get to use this penthouse's infinity pool for a mini late night pool party."
"Sounds good." Naveen said, as Baz agreed.
"Imagine having someone give you that much attention on your birthday. You're a lucky man Ethan." Tobias said as they all laughed and Ethan put his arm around Mia, pulling her closer to him as he kissed her head.
"I'll give Aurora some pointers." Mia said as they resumed eating.
That's when they heard someone's cell phone buzzing, quickly realizing that it was Ethan's phone. He picked it up to read the tons of texts he was getting. There were texts from his parents, Mia's friends, and even Moira and Matt, all wishing him a happy birthday. "Funny" he thought, as he wouldn't have gotten this much love before her.
After eating, the team left for the White House, and after going through all the clearances they reached the president, who was sitting in one of the highly decorated living rooms, wearing a maroon pantsuit and looking the brightest she had looked since the team had been there.
"Well if it isn't my favorite doctors!" AOC said once she got sight of the team coming her way.
"Careful." Mia said with a smile. "You wouldn't want one of your usual physicians to hear. The walls have ears."
"If you don't mind President, we'd just like to do a couple checks to make sure you're doing well since yesterday." Ethan said.
"Go ahead, I'm feeling fresher than ever" she said, as Mia went to her and started checking her breathing, temperature, etc. while making small talk with the President, the two chatting and laughing like two old friends.
