Chapter 15: Invasion

Tobias stepped aside, allowing the others to see the man awaiting at the door. Landry stood there, his eyes red and pupils dilated, evident that he was under the influence of something.

Upon seeing him, Mia's blood boiled beyond compare. She stood up from her seat, which was near the front door, looking straight at Landry as they angrily looked at one another.

"Well if it isn't the prissiest bitch in town." Landry said, talking about Mia as he slurred his words.

"What are you doing here?" she asked him coldly. "Leave Landry, you shouldn't be here."

"I'm not leaving unless I speak with your entitled ass first." he said, looking at her. The thing of utmost importance to Mia at the moment, was not letting Landry ruin her friends' baby shower, any more than he already did. Mia looked back at everyone as she thought for a moment, before looking back at Landry.

"Fine." she said, walking towards where he stood at the front door. "Go." she said intimidatingly, as he obeyed and walked outside. She turned around and shared one glance with Ethan, saying "I'll be back" to everyone before following him outside.

Landry walked out to the lawn in front of the house, Mia trailing behind, making sure to keep distance between them.

"What the hell was that Landry?" she asked.

"I heard about tonight through the grapevine, knew you would be there so I decided to pay my favorite little bitch a visit." he said.

"Geez, what are you on? Even sober you wouldn't say this kind of bullshit." she said.

"That doesn't concern you." he said.

"So, let me get this straight, you came here, and crashed a baby shower while completely inebriated, to teach me a lesson?" she asked.

"I got a shot, I took it."

"I thought you at least liked Ines." Mia said. "She doesn't deserve this."

"Oh please, stop with the righteousness." he said. "It's always about Mia Singh, prancing around Edenbrook like she's the queen and it's her kingdom. You pull all these wild stunts just to get noticed, you traipse around with your friends and all the superiors using them all for your own selfish reasons. Even got me kicked out of that place because I caught one of those stunts of yours."

"And how many times do I have to tell you? I did it for her, it's what she wanted Landry." Mia said, referring to Mrs. Martinez.

"Oh please, that's one of your many pleasing attributes. Not only do you lie to everyone, but also yourself, utterly naive, just like you."

"Ah, so someone's been spending time with Dr. Hirata." Mia said as she crossed her arms and looked at the ground, remembering the time that June called her naive.

"Is that a problem?" he asked with a creepy look on her face, putting his hand on Mia's bare shoulder. Mia immediately stepped back, looking angrily at him.

"Touch me one more time and I'll break your fucking hand."

"I'd like to see you try." Landry said. "I heard about what happened. Poor little Mia got attacked by a patient, boo hoo. Probably another one of your stunts to get you attention." he said.

"Then I'll take care of it." They heard a voice say behind them. Both turned around to see Ethan walking out of the shadows, coming and standing behind Mia. He supportingly held her hand, similar to when she did the same for him the day they were confronting Louise at the rehab center. "Yes, she may not be able to deal with you currently, but I assure you I can fill in for the job, so I suggest you keep your hands off of her." Ethan said, his voice deepening in anger and intimidation. Landry looked down at the joining of their hands, smirking at the sight.
