Mate

Next day. Morning. At the pack house.

Cat sighed as she looked at Eiza "did you see my mama when you were there?'"

Eiza looked at her friend confused "your mama? but your mama is dead?"

Cat shook her head, sighing "Gomez is holding my mother hostage. He's using her to turn werewolves into hybrids. He used her blood to make an example out of you. That's why Nick didn't bother to tell me you were alive because he knew you wouldn't survive the transition"

Eiza froze "because your mama is not the original hybrid. "

Cat nodded. 

Eiza's eyes widened when it hit her "It's you. "

Cat nodded "Yes, it's me. Were you able to overhear something?"

She thought about it. 

Cat sighed "i know i have no idea what you've been through with Gomez. I don't even want to imagine what he did to you. But if you overheard or noticed something...... any little thing could help, Eiza"

Eiza thought about it "around a week ago I could over hear two of Gomez's betas ranting about something. They were complaining about the boss' bad mood. "

Rafe asked confused "why was he in a bad mood? Because of Cataleya'?"

Eiza thought about it "Because he's running out of blood. "

Cat froze. 

Eiza shook her head, confused "I thought they were talking about you, Cata. I would've never thought that they were talking about your mama"

Cat looked at Rafe who looked back at her. 

Rafe sighed while shaking his head "That was a weak ago, Cat. Don't get your hopes up"

She sighed. 

Suddenly Eiza sniffed the air and her eyes turned black.

Cat asked confused "Eiza?"

Eiza looked at the closed door, growling "Mate"

Cat's head snapped to Rafe who raised an eyebrow at Eiza before looking over to the closed door. 

Suddenly Seth walked in, talking about something before his eyes landed on Eiza and his eyes turned golden. He let out a growl.

Cat looked at Seth before looking at Eiza. 

Her head snapped between them before she breathed out annoyed "of course. Why the hell not"

Rafe held back a laugh with a smirk. 

Cat glared at the man "that's not funny. Like not at all"

Rafe grimaced "it's kinda is."

Seth shook his head, turning back to normal "you have a second?"

Rafe nodded and walked out with Seth.

Cat looked at Eiza, annoyed "you can turn back now"

Eiza looked at the closed door before turning to Cat while turning back to normal. 

Cat tried to form the words in her mouth without sounding irritated "him? your mate? HIM?"

Eiza looked at her confused "why? what's wrong with that? What did he do to you?"

Cat leaned back in her chair "let me think about it, hmmmm, threatened, bullied and tortured me"

Eiza's eyes widened "oh shit"

Cat nodded "yeah, no shit"

The door opened and Rafe's head popped in "Cat"

She looked at her mate. 

He nodded for her to come out. 

Cat looked at Eiza "i'll be right back"

Then she walked out to the boys "what's going on?"

Rafe "two werewolves were seen near the border."

Cat looked up to him. 

Rafe "apparently they were looking for Eiza"

Cat "were you able to catch them?"

Rafe "one was able to escape. "

Cat "and the other one?"

Seth "is dead"

Cat looked at him before asking Rafe "can I see the body? Or did you burn it already?"

Rafe rolled his eyes. 

In the lab.

Cat walked over to the dead werewolf's body.

Rafe "they must've followed Eiza's blood trail all the way to us"

Cat nodded "They wanted to know if I was able to save her – to turn her into a hybrid"

He nodded.

Cat "how close did they get to the mansion?"

He  shrugged "I don't know. I don't know what they saw or what they heard. But I am pretty sure they were able to overhear my pack chatting about what you did."

Cat snorted annoyed "Gossip. What a great pack you have, alfa"

Rafe raised an eyebrow "they may be werewolves but they are still teenagers and young adults. Gossip's a part of them"

Cat snapped a little "then maybe you should have told them that you can't talk about things like that in times like this"

Rafe said seriously "Well, I have other things to take care of, Cataleya"

Cat snapped "like what?"

Rafe "trying get my brother back. Saving your ass. "

Cat snapped "for what do you have a second – in –command if you're not using him?"

Rafe shot back "well, for what do I have a mate – a Luna if she doesn't do what she's supposed to do. "

Cat shook her head  "I never asked to become your Luna – let alone becoming your mate"

Rafe nodded "oh, I trust me, I know how much you despise that bond"

Cat looked away from him.

It went silent.

Rafe sighed "I will talk to them"

Cat crossed her arms over her chest "you mean you will let Seth talk to them, since you're busy protecting my ass"

Rafe shook his head "no, I will talk to them myself"

Cat looked at him confused "you don't have time for that, you said it your-"

Rafe cut her off "Then I will take the time"

Cat looked at him nodding before looking back to the body "He'll know by now that i was able to turn her. That i am the key"

Rafe didn't respond.

She looked at him when his silence got too long.

Rafe looked at her and she sighed. 

Cat "He'll come for me"

Rafe "he can try"

Suddenly she noticed that there was a finger missing from the corpse.

Then she  asked confused "did you cut the finger off? Why did you cut his finger off?"

Rafe looked at the hand, shrugging "they brought him in like that. Ask Seth"

Cat looked at him.
