A week later. In the cell.

The cell door opened and Seth walked in "hey"

I looked at him "I've been down her for the a week now and yet you haven't shown up once"

Seth took a deep breath "Well, I figured since... you know, I gave you the permission to go through with your plan, I don't think that Nick would have liked seeing me down here with you"

I walked over to him and hugged him.

Seth hugged me back "it's good to have you back"

I nodded "it is. What brings you down here?"

Seth "Nick wants to see you"

I nodded "mhm"

Seth "and let me tell you, he's not in the mood for your disobedience "

I said fake excited "aw, how cute, my mate knows me so well"

He chuckled.

Nick's office.

Nick eyed me.

Me "what?"

Nick "how's the baby doing?"

I scoffed, shaking my head "there's no baby"

He raised an eyebrow.

Me "Gomez only said that because you wouldn't leave me alone"

Nick just looked at me.

Me "haven't been with Gomez in over a week, you can no longer smell him on me. If I was carrying his baby I would still smell like him"

Nick nodded.

Me "I am actually disappointed that you think I am actually stupid enough to give Gomez a child. Another Hybrid blood source"

Nick nodded.

Me "why did you let me out of the cell?"

Nick "I wanted to talk to you"

Me "about the non-existing baby, wow. Are you really that jealous?"

Nick just looked at me.

Me "Shay"

Nick "what about her?"

Me "Gomez had it all planned out when he sent Shay to us. Shay told us Gomez was waiting till the pack was breaking apart to attack. He knew that bringing Shay in would cause a break in the pack"

Nick nodded "I know"

I froze "you did?"

Nick nodded "Shay told me"

Me "and you didn't think about telling me?"

Nick shook his head "nope"

I asked confused "why not?"

Nick "because you were already hating on her"

I shook my head "no no no, I told that the problem Shay and I had was you. You and your secrets. You don't trust me"

Nick nodded "I did trust you, Cataleya. I trusted you with the pack 5 years ago. I am afraid I can't do that now, can I"

I asked him amused and irritated "you wanna talk to me about trust? You? you, asshole, were the one who betrayed my trust over and over again. And you dare standing there telling me that you can't trust me? When all I did was protecting the pack you left behind"

Nick "we both know that you leaving for Gomez to protect the pack was only a part of the reason why you made that deal"

I raised an eyebrow "oh really"

Nick "you felt out of place here. Like you didn't belong here anymore when I left. You wanted to leave."

Me "Because you left. You made me feel this way"

Nick "And I am sorry"

I shook my head "Five years is a long time"

Nick nodded "I know. But Cat-"

I shook my head "don't. I can't do this right now"

Then i walked out and into my old room. 

I locked the doors and slid them down till i was sitting on the ground. .

Then i let the tears roll down my cheeks. 

Night. On the balcony. 

I was leaning against the railing, looking at the trees. 

Someone walked up behind me and leaned next to me against the railing. 

I already know who it was. 

I asked hurt "why did you come back?"

Nick looked down "I couldn't say away any longer"

i shook my head  "there's this thing called "rejection"."

Nick shook his head "you already know my opinion on that"

I scoffed.

Nick "I couldn't do it. I love you too much for that"

I looked down, sighing "remember the first time you confessed your feelings for me"

Nick "and you didn't say it back?"

Me "you know why I didn't say it back"

Nick looked at me.

Me "Because I was scared. I knew what saying it back would cause – it would change everything. Because I knew that I loved you because I do and not because of the bond. I was scared that you said it because of the bond"

Nick shook his head "but I didn't"

Me "it could've been. Regardless of that, I was scared of the mate bond, scared of the responsibility I would have towards the pack.. towards you. I was scared that I couldn't do it"

Nick "that's why you threatened to reject me. Because you felt insecure"

I nodded "I was just scared"

He looked down.

Me "Remember when Nacho asked me if you made me happy?"

He nodded "you still owe me answer"

I nodded "yes, in some sick way you made me happy"

Nick nodded.

Me "Nick's there's something you should know. About why I came back"

He looked at me.

Me "Gomez let me go to spent some time with you. To say goodbye"

He looked at me confused.

Me "He's planning on eliminating this pack and taking me back with him. "

Nick "so you came to say goodbye"

I shook my head  "I came to stay here, for as long as possible and to fight if necessary"

Nick nodded.

Me "Nick, I wanna help you. Let me help you"

Nick walked over to me and hugged me.

I hugged him back and lost some tears.
