Lost Without You {COMPLETED}

Chapter Twenty Four

"N-no..." Steven stepped back, baffled and alarmed that now towering before him was Red. Corruption had fully taken over. There stood a monster, no longer his brother.

Before could Steven react the monster used its razor claws, pouncing on top of him. He struggled against its grip as it began digging its claws into Steven's arms. "A-AHHHHHHH!" He let out a gut-wrenching scream, blood pouring down his arms, feeling the weight begin to break his bones.

"STEVEN!" Everyone exclaimed, jumping into battle to help him.

Lapis's rage had fully exceeded as waves of water collected around her, creating a water silhouette of herself, holding a spear. "Get your filthy claws off him!" Her voice boomed as she raised her hand, launching the spear into Red.

It let go of him, letting out a horrendous roar. Steven was too weak to stand. The gems rushed over to grab him, pulling him away from the monster. But before they could Red swiped them off to the side, its sights still set on Steven.

Lapis rushed over to him, using her water wings to protect them, but to no avail as Red effortlessly cut through her defenses, sending her flying smashing into the cliffside.

"LAPIS!" Steven tried to stand the best he could, but Red punched him down. Blood leaked from his nose. He looked around at all his family, friends looking in fear at the situation.

He knew he had to come up with a plan, and that's when it clicked. Even if this plan sounded insane, he had no choice. There was no way he was going to defeat Red in this state. Red lunged down, but not before taking a diamond spiked fist to the cheek. Red was knocked back as Steven stood up.

Steven looked over at his family and friends. "Forgive me..." he says before turning back to Red.

"What is he doing?!" Amethyst says in panic.

"I-I don't know.." Pearl, sits up slowly.

The remaining diamonds rushed towards Steven. "Steven! Get out of there we'll handle Red!" Yellow says in determination even if she was afraid.

"STAY BACK!" Steven's voice sent a shockwave strong enough to send them off their feet. "Get away... Now..." he said, before focusing his attention back on Red. "This Is the only way..."

The gems and humans looked at Steven. "What are you going to do Steven?..." Connie asks herself.

"I'm a monster..." Steven mutters before saying it louder. "I'm a monster!"

Everyone widens their eyes, "he can't be serious?!" Pearl covers her mouth in shock.

"No! Steven doesn't do it! You know you won't have control!" Lapis begs and pleads with him to no avail.

"DON'T DO IT, SON!" Greg tears up, screaming towards Steven.

Tears begin streaming down Steven's eyes as he drops to his knees. "I AM A MONSTER!" He screams to the top of his lungs. His gem begins to glow as scales shoot out of his back, enveloping his form. "And I'm going to protect my loved ones!" He says before his corruption consumes him.

His form grew to Red's height, horns and tusks grew from his head and mouth. Steven's skin became a dark pink, covered in scales. There stood the same monster that everyone wished they didn't see again. Red let out a roar towards Steven as he responded with a roar back.

Within seconds they both got on fours, rushing at each other. Red tackles him to the ground, sinking its claws, but not breaking Steven's skin. His eyes began to glow as he let out a roar, knocking Red off. He took his chance and tackled Red to the ground. Relentlessly he stabbed his claws into Red, scratching, clawing, biting at his skin. Black liquid sprayed from his body.

Steven didn't stop, not giving Red a chance to breathe. He grabbed onto one of his arms, locking it in place, and pulled at it. His grip tightened as he let out a roar, tearing Red's arm clean off.

Everyone stared in shock at the scene.

Red let out a pain cried roar, struggling against Steven. He punched Red down relentlessly. With one final slam to his face, Steven grabbed a hold of his head, prying his mouth open. Pink radiant energy, coarsed through his veins as he took a breath. With Red's wide open, he opened his mouth, sending a pink plasma beam down Red's throat. Not even seconds he went still before Steven let go. His body crashing to the sand.

(This scene was inspired by my favorite monster movie, Godzilla. It's from the 2018 remake where Godzilla is taking on two monsters at one time. But by the end he uses that same killing blow on one of them.)

Steven stomped on its corpse, letting out a victory roar, loud enough for the whole world to hear. After that his form gave out, before dropping on the sand next to Red. His scales began disappearing as his size shrunk down. The only thing that was left was Steven laying there.

He slowly turns towards Red's corpse. His form as well had dissapated, leaving him there. "Y-you were human too...?"

"Mom really didn't tell you anything.. Did she?" Red chuckled weakly, before coughing.

Steven smiled with a small chuckle. "No, she didn't."

"Listen, brother, I hope you know why I acted the way I did..." He looked down.

"You were corrupted from the very start, it went to your mind sooner than others, " Steven explains as Red nods.

Red reached out his hand. "I hope someday even if I'm gone.. You can forgive me."

Steven reached out, taking his hand. "I already forgive you, brother. Now rest it's time, " he smiled sadly.

Red's began to lose more blood. "You know... There's one thing I'll regret.. That I didn't get to know you, Steven.. I love you, brother..." His eyes closed as his body went limp.

Tears balled up in Steven's eyes. "Rest well... Brother..." was the last thing he said before his vision became cloudy, and the last thing he heard were his loved ones screaming out his name.

In the end, Red was never a bad person. The diamonds were just afraid of his power back then when they used to be tyrants. That anger and hatred towards Pink and all of the diamonds became corruption. It took over his mind, none of the actions that were committed throughout this story were of his own free will. I hope you guys have enjoyed this story, I know I have been, writing it. It's been one hell of a ride from months of no updates, no ideas, no inspiration, to updates more frequently.
