Lost Without You {COMPLETED}

Chapter Eight

Lapis's POV:
Steven had soon left as everyone looked at each other.

"What are we going to do?" Pearl let's out a sigh with a tear in her eye. "He won't talk to us and now he's become distant again."

Garnet places her hand on Pearl's shoulder. "We'll figure something out, I'm sure it's just hard with the break up with Connie."

"Poor guy," Amethyst frowns. "He was head over heels for Connie all these years, and now he finally admits and gets his heart broken."

Honestly none of us expected Connie to break up with him. They seemed like a genuine good couple and that's saying a lot since I have my own feelings for him. Sadly the way he's been acting lately I don't think I'll ever get to tell him.

"Well we gotta think of something, I don't like seeing my buddy so down in the dirt," Bismuth frowns, gazing out the screen door.

The words he said echo through the back of my head. "I wish I would've died in that car accident." Steven isn't around so there's no time best than any to tell them now. "Guys, there's something I need to tell you all."

"What is it Lapis?" Pearl asks.

I take a breath even though I don't need to. "When me and Peridot were in Steven's room waiting for you guys. We talked to him a bit but what came out of his mouth after saying we were glad he was okay shocked us both."

"What did he say?" Garnet asks.

Tears litter my eyes, "He said.. He wish he would've died in that car accident..."

Everyone's eyes go wide as saucers. "WHAT?!" Pearl screams.

Peridot frowns tearing up herself, "It's true."

"And we just let him go out the door right now, knowing he's suicidal!" Amethyst gasps sharply tearing up.

The room became dark as we all looked out. Dark black clouds crawled across the sky with a crackling sound of thunder. Steven's out there... I rush forward throwing open the door as the rain begins to come down hard with the wind trying to lift me off my feet.

My head shoots in every direction looking for him, till my eyes see a medium figure sitting on the sand. "There he is!" I point.

He lifts his arms and closes his eyes. My eyes widen, he's trying to kill himself. Suddenly I see a gigantic wave headed towards him. "STEVEN!!!" I scream to the top of my lungs, but he doesn't hear me.

The wave crashes over his body, taking him away. My gem glows sprouting my water wings. I leap off the porch of the temple flying towards Steven. His body is dunked under water as I shoot down like a bullet into the matter. Being I can control water, I send the waves in another direction as I search for Steven.

My eyes catch sight of him as I start swimming towards him. His arm goes limp and mouth goes wide open with his eyes closed. I swim as hard as I can towards him. Reaching out my hand I grasp onto him, pulling him into my arms as I use my wings to shoot us to the top.

Holding tightly onto him my wings flap as I head towards the temple. I soon land as the gems follow me inside. Pearl takes a hold of him and lays his body across the couch. She takes a finger to his neck, her eyes widen. "He doesn't have a pulse, there's too much water in his lungs!"

Without thinking I push Pearl out of the way and press my hands against Steven's chest. I saw it in camp pining hearts how Paulette saved Percy from drowning. I press again and again and look down to his lips. I throw my head down pressing my lips against his, blowing air into him. My gem glows as I keep blowing. Water rises from his throat, shooting out of his mouth as I stepped back.

He begins to cough, sitting up puking the rest of the water out. His breathing is heavy as he turns to us. "W-why?..." Tears leak out of his eyes. "Why didn't you let me die!..."

"Because we care about you Steven! Why would you try to take your own life?..." Amethyst breaks into tears.

He looks away in shame, "because what is my purpose anymore? I lost Connie so now my future I had planned is gone. I'm just worthless and pathetic..."

Tears glaze my eyes as I growl, "Your wrong... You're no where near worthless or pathetic. You're the best thing that's ever happened to me... It was you who saved me from that mirror, you who showed Peridot that there's beauty in Earth. There's so much you've done for all of us! You don't need Connie, you have us, you have me!" My cheeks blush at that last statement.

"B-but there's nobody here anymore that will love me like Connie did... I feel so hopeless.." He breaks down, sobbing into his hands.

I wrap my arms around him in a tight hug. "Then let us give you that hope back, let us repay you for what you've done for us. You still have a future and we'll help you figure that out, I promise." my hands squeeze him tightly and assuringly.

I feel his arms wrap around me, returning the hug just as tight. As much as I'd want to scream I love you Steven! This isn't the time nor the place to do so.

"I'm sorry... I'm sorry for everything..." He leans against me crying. The others walk around me and engulf him in a hug.

"You're our family Steven," Pearl smiles with a tear going down her eye. "You've always been like a son to me, I promised your mother I'd take care of you. And that's exactly what I'm going to do."

"Same here buddy, you've been my big brother," Amethyst chuckles with a few tears.

"You've been the friend I've never had!" Peridot sobs.

"We're all here for you Steven, I promise."

I smile myself, he really has a big support system. We all soon go quiet just hugging onto Steven for dear life.

Soon enough we all separate as Steven wipes the tears from his eyes. "I'm sorry guys... Guess I just really needed a talk."

Garnet ruffles his wet hair, "We're always gonna be here if you ever need someone to talk to.

Steven gives a genuine smile and hugs her.

"You should probably change Steven, you must be freezing," She stands up and goes to walk to the bathroom. "I'll start a nice warm relaxing bath for you, just go get a change of clothes."

Steven stands up and goes to walk upstairs but turns around in confusion. "Wait... Who saved me from the Ocean?" He asks completely puzzled.

Amethyst grins and points at me, "Lapis did, she dove in right after you."

Steven smiles and walks up to me and hugs me tightly. "Thank you Lapis... If it wasn't for you I wouldn't be here."

I smile and return the hug, "Of course Steven I'm your beach summer fun buddy. I'm gonna be there no matter what the circumstance."

He smiles and nods at that, "I know that now. Maybe we should hang out tomorrow? It's been a while and I have to repay my savior."

I giggle, "I suppose that's payment enough now go get some clothes, Pearl is waiting for you."

He chuckles and walks upstairs to his room.

Everyone looks at me with gratitude in their eyes. "Thank you for saving him, Lapis." Garnet places her hand on my shoulder.

"Yeah you saved my brother," Amethyst smiles.

Pearl walks out and smiles. "You saved my son Lapis, for that I'm forever grateful to have you apart of this family."

I tear up a little bit, not sad but happy. Everyone engulfs me in a hug. But I all I cared about in that moment that Steven was safe. From now on I was going to protect him no matter what, even from himself.

I wasn't proud of the work that was written here, and the rushed confession I made. So I had to change it, and now it's much better. I hope you guys enjoy the change and I'll see you all in the next one, laters.  :)
