Steven's POV:
Darkness surounds me and all I see the deep, cold, dark abyss in front of me. "Hello...?" I call out with no response given back to me. I let out a sigh, thinking perhaps I'm dreaming which wouldn't surprise me so I guess I take a moment to think about things. How could've I been so stupid to try to commit suicide, what was my goal? My family, Lapis and even Connie who broke my heart would be hurt. My dad... He doesn't even know about that. God I'm so stupid with my irrational thinking. This depression has become my curse over the years ever since I was younger.
I'm just so happy Lapis was there to save me, if it wasn't for her then I'd be possibly gone. I practically owe her my life. But at least we'll hang out today. We haven't hung out together ever since the Lapis Lazuli incident, but at least freckles joined Little Homeschool. Wonder how she's doing?
My thoughts are cut off by footsteps as I jump onto my feet. I glance around every direction to where it's coming from. Until a blood curdling scream sends shivers down my spine. That voice... "LAPIS!" Without even a second thought I just bolt into the abyss.
"Steven help me!..." She screams further off to my left as I just listen to her voice.
"Lapis! Where are you?" I call out desperately.
"STEVEN!...."
The darkness that once surrounded me, collapses and what I see chills me to the bone. The gems were all laid around, beaten, bruised seconds from poofing. Looking forward I can't believe what I see. That same monster, the pink scales and the gem in the middle.. No.. This can't be real.
It has it's grasp around Lapis as she tries her best to break free. I summon my shield and dash forward, my pink skin becoming apart of me. "Let her go!" I'm about to smash it in the face with my shield but instead I go right through, like it was a ghost. I turn around but I'm too late.
With one final agonizing scream in pain, Lapis loses her form as her gem falls into it's grasp. What happens next is what's horrifying. The beast takes her gem and puts it in his mouth. A loud crunch that made me want to puke. Tears overcome my eyes, "LAPIS!"
It turns to me and leans down spitting out her gem with only shards of it remaining. "L-lapis..." I slowly gathered the shards in my hand, tearing dripping down like a waterfall. I look ahead of me, the others bodies are gone and only shards remain of them.
I hear another scream but it's silenced immediately with a familar sword landing at my feet. Blood drips down on my head as I look up, Connie's body mangled and broken in between it's teeth. Something drops and lands into my hands... It's her head, decapitated with no life left in them as I can feel her staring into my soul. I back away in pure panic but when I look up, it's got it's next target... Me.
It's hand grasps onto me as I try to break free. "No!..." Tears were flowing down my eyes. "Please don't do it!..." the monster shrugs my screams off and opens it's mouth wide. This was it... I was gonna die to my own demon... And just like that it let go as I fell into it's mouth.
With that I let out a scream, shooting up from my bed. I can hardly breathe and I feel my heart about to burst from my chest. What kind of nightmare was that?! I grab my phone and look at the time, three in the morning.
"Steven!" I hear Pearl rush up the stairs, her feet quick as lightning. She comes into my room with panic in her eyes until she sees me and runs over. "Steven? Are you okay? I heard you scream," she takes a seat on the side of my bed, caressing my cheek.
"It was just a nightmare... A really bad one at that," I sigh, sitting up.
"What was it about?" She asks, her concern for me growing deeper.
Suddenly the images before me flash. Lapis's shards, Connie's decapitated head. I lunge forward hugging Pearl tightly. Tears begin to engulf my vision until I can't hold it anymore, and break down crying, clutching tightly onto her.
"Steven! Honey what's wrong?" Pearl held onto me tightly.
I didn't respond I just kept crying as I heard other footsteps run up to my room.
"Yo what's going on?" I hear Amethyst ask.
"I don't know Steven screamed and when he was about to tell me, he started crying," Pearl replied, running her hand through my hair.
I slowly began to calm down, holding onto her.
"What's going on with Steven?" I hear Lapis ask in concern and just like that I switched. Got up from my bed and rushed over hugging her tightly.
"Thank goodness you're okay..." I say in a whisper from all of my crying.
Lapis giggles, wrapping her arms around me. "Of course I'm okay why wouldn't I be?"
"B-because I watched you be shattered..." I choke on my tears as everyone goes silent.
"You watched me be shattered?" Lapis asks with a frown as I nod my head.
"Why would you have a dream like that Steven?" Pearl asks in concern.
I let out a sigh and explain the entire dream from beginning to end. After I'm finished the gems are left in shock, especially Lapis.
"W-wow, that dream sounded way too vivid.." Lapis says in complete utter disbelief.
I start tearing up and cover my face. "I don't want to hurt anyone... I don't want to be that monster again!" My sobbing begins again as I feel Lapis wrap her arms around me.
"That won't ever happen again Steven and if it does, we won't let you hurt anyone I promise you. We love you Steven and if we have to hug you to death again we will," Lapis says with a smile as I let out a tiny chuckle.
The gems put me back in my bed and were about to leave. "Wait! Lapis?"
She turns around to me, "yes Steven?"
"Can you um..." I could feel my cheeks burning up. "Can you sleep here with me tonight?"
There's a tiny blush that's on her cheeks now, but a smile crosses her face as she nods. "Of course."
While the rest of the gems leave, Lapis stays and walks over to my bed. Her gem glows as she changes her outfit to a black t-shirt and dark blue ocean pajamas. She looks absolutely adorable in the outfit. Wait I didn't just say that.
"Peridot told me that humans wear these comfy night clothes to sleep," Lapis giggles at my reaction as I look at her.
"Y-yeah," I lift my covers as she climbs in, scooting into the bed. She looks over at me with a smile. A cute dark blue blush across her cheeks.
I pull her close to me, cuddling her. It's not weird to have friends cuddle right? Regardless Lapis buries her face into my chest and I smile. I close my eyes, about to go into a peaceful slumber.
"Goodnight Steven," Lapis says softly, snuggling close against me, making her self comfy.
I smile, she's my new best friend. She's always here for me no matter what. "Goodnight Lapis," I close my eyes and let myself drift into peaceful slumber, knowing Lapis was going to be here for me.
Finally! A chapter has been written and I provide you Stapis fluff! I know this chapter was a bit twisted and dark, but it seemed like a good idea to bring Lapis and Steven closer together. Anyway I hope you enjoyed this chapter, and I'll see you all in the next one, laters. :)
