Harry and Haven hadn't spoken in weeks now. It was early February. The sun already lighting up the cool Hogwarts grounds. More exams were approaching for both the eighth-years and the seventh-years and for once, Haven actually put in the effort.
Harry watched her from the other side of the classrooms taking notes from the Professors' lessons and scanned over them in the common room after dinner.
Because getting good grades had nothing to do with Antonin Dolohov walking around somewhere in Brittain, Harry had no clue why Haven was working so hard for school all of the sudden. The only reason Harry could possibly imagine was boredom but he knew that Haven could find at least a thousand activities to do before she would even touch a quill so he wondered why Haven was so active all of the sudden.
Even with their recent distancing, Harry still felt like he knew the girl. Inside and out. And she knew him.
Harry sighed at the uselessness of that fact but forced himself to tear his eyes away from the window in the tall tower in the distance. He turned back to face his team who were in the very last practise before the upcoming match; Gryffindor versus Ravenclaw.
There was a certain delight about the fact that Harry didn't have to play Hufflepuff yet. The petty banter and the endless ignoring already pulled a tight strain on their relationship and with Haven's odd views on the Hogwarts houses, Harry had no clue what that would do to them.
Harry could somewhat imagine Haven playing for the Hufflepuff team if she ever sorted out her Hufflepuff problems and her mummy issues that correlated with those. She would probably love to play a Beater but Harry was sure Haven had very good potential in the Seeker position.
The reason for that was not because he wanted to play her one-to-one in the Quidditch pitch one time and see her flying next to him or across from him with sweat running down her forehead, her hair pulled back into a ponytail and her legs fit into the slim creamy pants that the players of every house were required to wear.
Well, not entirely.
It was more because of her swift movements in the air, her admittedly fast reflexes and her ability to keep her wits in crucial situations. Harry didn't want to add the fact that she would undoubtedly put herself in crucial situations as a reason as well.
The match against Ravenclaw was to take place the very next day, Saturday morning until who knew when. Luckily, Hogwarts wasn't really known for its long games. Most lasted an hour or two, sometimes even less.
Throughout the three weeks that Harry and Haven didn't talk, Haven got as good as adopted by Padma and Parvati Patil whilst Harry took refugee with Ron and Hermione again and focused on Quidditch. Theo was arguably the only one of the eighth-years who regulated between the two arguing friends and divided his time equally between the two.
Haven was quite happy with her cousins though they obviously weren't like what Harry had been to her. The thing that Harry and other people lacked in what the one thing only the Patil Twins could give Haven and that was stories.
A lot of the time, Haven listened eagerly to what Padma carefully explained to her and Parvati exuberantly told her. They were stories about their culture, about their family and their traditions. Haven soaked in every little fact and felt at home in those tellings, despite the fact that she never actually got the chance to experience any of it.
To compromise, Padma and Parvati showed Haven a lot of the jewellery and clothing they owned and helped her figure out exactly how everything fit. Haven considered herself to look rather pretty when she tried the clothing on one day and vowed to visit her uncle and aunt's home one day.
