I finally Said It

I open my mouth and use the wooden chopsticks to place the long strands of noddle into my mouth. I chew on the soft cooked dough with a gentle smile of contentment.  I glance at Akatsuki who is sitting beside me also enjoying his meal as we eat the same food.

I look upon the water of Tokyo Bay and off to the side is the Rainbow Bridge. I see that all the cars are not allowed to cross it for tonight, guess it means the fireworks are going to start soon. The water is calm as small boats slowly stride through the water with ease leaving a rippling path behind them.

The sun has set and the sky is almost as dark as the midnight sky. I look behind us, west, to see the colours of pinks and oranges and purples behind the mountain ranges in the distance. Soon the whole sky will be engulfed with black and shining stars. As I look above us twinkling stars have gradually showed themselves already. I smile softly feeling a gentle breeze sweep across the water and blow past us and through my brown hair.

I pick up my chopsticks again and continue eating the noodles and chicken cutlets. The food bursts with flavours as I chew and it leaves an addictive taste in my mouth. I could eat this every day if I wanted to. Who knew something as simple as this could taste so good? I rarely go out for dinner so I’m happy to have something different for a change.

Looking back at Akatsuki he looks like he is enjoying this a lot. Guess that means he has had this quite often then. As if reading my thoughts, Akatsuki finishes his mouthful and looks at me.

“I love it. It’s got a unique flavour and the chicken is cooked to perfection. I give it eleven out of ten.” He smiles brightly and ruffles my hair holding his box in the other hand so he doesn’t drop it on the ground. We managed to find a wooden table that was unoccupied which is lucky and has a perfect view of the bridge for the fireworks.

“I’ve got to say but this may just be my new favourite meal.” I smile with him then laugh a little as he ruffles my hair. Akatsuki then finishes up his meal before standing up and holds his hand out for me to hand him my empty box. I give it to him with the cheap wooden chopsticks and he walks over to the nearest bin before returning to my side. Akatsuki sits back beside me then kisses my cheek. I blush slightly and look out to the water.

“Your favourite? Mmm well then I better make some sometime.” He gently holds my hand and kisses it like prince charming then just holds it while it rests on his lap. My blush doesn’t disappear but lucky the sky is already pretty dark so my blush isn’t as noticeable. The lamp posts around the area we are sitting at turn on slowly which gives us just enough light to see around ourselves.

I look down at his wrist which he wears a black watch and I look at the time. Thirty minutes to go until the firework show starts. I’ve seen fireworks on the TV but never in person. It’s getting rather exciting to see what they really look like for myself.

“Are you getting cold yet?” Akatsuki softly asks while looking at me.

“N-Not really but thank you.” Akatsuki then suddenly wraps his arm around me and pulls me to his chest. My blush deepens as he also pulls me onto his lap. “A-Akatsuki?” I stutter my words.

“I just want to hold you. Is that okay?” He peels back a little of my blue Yukata and kisses my neck slightly. He then rests his head against mine. I swallow hard to try and relax. All it should be is a hug but my heart is pounding so hard it would pop out of my chest at any given moment. The kiss on the neck didn’t help though.

“I-It’s fine.” I’m also stuttering a lot too which I don’t normally. I find my behaviour really bizarre and hard to describe. I relax on him and try not to look at anyone who is around. My cheeks are a little red but I tried not to think about it.
