"Okay, you gotta be quiet", Sal hushed as he unlocked the front door of the house with a key, slipping it into his pocket once the door clicked open.
"Are you sure they'd be okay with me staying int eh spare room?", Travis whispered as the two entered the dark and quiet home.
"I'm not sure, but that's why you're gonna stay in my room for tonight", Sal closed the door behind them, locking it back up.
"Wait- huh?", Travis scooted his suitcase in the small area next to the door, not really knowing what to do with it, but keeping his backpack on his back.
"We've shared a bed before, dude. It's not the end of the world", Sal started walking up th started, waving the hand trying to signal for Travis to follow him.
"I know but-...", Travis followed him up the stairs.
"We'll have more time to talk that way too- It was kind of awkward talking with Larry there- so now we can be alone and talk for a bit", Sal smiled once they got on the top floor, opening the door just a little and looking down, kicking something with his foot gently before opening the door fully.
"Okay, get in quick, I don't want Gizmo out", Sal said, holding the door open.
"That cat's still alive?", Travis chuckled quietly, walking into the room.
"Yeah, starting to think that little bastard is immortal", Sal closed the door behind them.
The room was painted a deep blue color, the flooring a grayish carpeting, surprising still soft. Sal had bad posters plastered all around his walls. His end pushed up against the wall with his desk also done so neatly on the wall next to it.
"It smells like weed in here", Travis scoffed while sal turned his lamp on, giving off a dim lighting, but just enough for the two boys.
"Well obviously, I would be surprised if it didn't", Sal replied with a chuckle.
"I'm sorry for just ... Leaving all those years ago...", Travis slung his backpack on the ground and sat on the edge of the bed.
"It wasn't your fault, I get it", Sal sighed, unclipping the back of his mask, letting it fall into his hands.
"I still feel bad about it though- I never even got to properly say goodbye to you", Travis looked at the ground.
"I don't know why you didn't text me or call though, I mean I would have loved to talk to you after that...", Sal set the prosthetic on his desk, and sat next to Travis.
"I thought you wouldn't want to talk to me..."
"Why's that?"
"I left-"
"Yes, we established that--"
"... Sal?"
"Yes?"
"Did you loose feelings after all those years?"
"What?-"
"We had something... We had something special"
"Travis- I know we did. But we were kids then"
"So you still don't feel that way then?..."
"I did- for a long time... And then I realized it was pointless. I thought you were never coming back"
"I couldn't just leave and not come back- I care too much..."
Sal tilted his head, "What do you mean?"
"Sal- I never fell out of love with you..? I just couldn't...", Travis grabbed onto his friend's hand with a sigh.
".... So are we starting back where we ended?" Sal looked up at him.
"Depends on what that means."
"It means... Us being together, And, not having to worry about your safety..."
"I thought you said you didn't like me anymore-"
"I never got you out of my mind..."
Travis looked over at Sal's alarm clock, 4:56, it blinked on red numbers.
"It's late... And I'm tired", Travis let go of Sal.
"Right..."
