Doyoung closed the door, shutting out the boy that had been reluctant to leave Jie's side. Right after it clicked shut, she took off her shirt while Doyoung aimed his eyes at her wounds that were covered with large band-aids.
"Is Jaemin glued to you or something?" he wondered as he walked up to her, keeping his voice low considering that the boy in question was standing right in front of the door.
Jie smiled at his choice of words but quickly shook her head.
"I guess he kinda thinks this is his fault so he's staying with me.""Usually you don't like it when people are with you all the time," Doyoung pointed out, taking off the band-aids and getting a better look at the already healing wounds.
"I got used to him."
"I noticed," he said happily. "I was worried at first but seeing you get along makes me feel relieved."
Smirking, ready to make him regret his choice of words, Jie leaned forward a little as she said,
"So you were worried about me? Aren't you the cutest~"He frowned. "I take it back."
"Too late," she retorted jauntily.
While Doyoung took his time to thoroughly check on the girl, Jie got bored pretty fast. She remembered the boy that was waiting behind the door, then let her eyes fall onto the doctor, making her wonder about something.
"Did you know that Jaemin's brother is part of Dragonhead?" Jie asked, genuinely curious to hear the older one's answer.
However, instead of giving a proper reply, he merely briefly looked at her before looking back at her injury.
"Who told you that?" he asked in return.
"Taeyong." She kept her eyes on the doctor although he wasn't returning her glances. "He recently found out about it. It must have been upsetting for Jaemin. It would have been good had we known about it sooner."
Doyoung noticed the girl's burning gaze. He also noticed the way she was closely observing him, curious about his reactions. But he didn't give much away as he kept cleaning the wound and wrapping it back up. Working diligently, his answer came from an absent mind.
"Jaemin will find another way to get his revenge," Doyoung reassured as if she had even asked about that. "Focus on yourself."
"What's there to focus on?"
Doyoung blew a lazy breath past his lips. "I don't know?" he asked. "Not getting shot, perhaps?"
"Stop saying that as if it was intentional," she ordered him. "Besides, I have you, the best doctor in Korea. I'll be fine."
Ignoring her, he turned around and closed his bag. "All done, your wounds are healing well," he determined which she took as the cue to put her shirt back on. "You can go home if you want."
Jie's eyes lit up. "What? Really?"
"Yeah." He took his bag, turned around. "But you need to come for checkups when I tell you to."
"Sure!" She gave him a thumbs-up. "Whatever the doctor wants."
At that point, he had reached the door. He pulled it open, revealing two boys on the other side.
"You are done?" Taeyong asked immediately, yet somehow Doyoung didn't answer him. He just glared at the older one, jaw clenched and trying to hide his annoyance.
