The night approached surprisingly fast. Jaemin and Jie had spent the day at 127's dorm and so did the rest of the Dreamies that decided to stay with the other two.
As dinner time rolled around, the guest bedroom became more crowded.
If it were up to Jie, she would have joined the others in the kitchen for dinner. However, Doyoung prohibited her from leaving the bed as it was safest not to move around too much for now.
So, when Taeyong brought the girl her food that evening, the Dreamies followed him. They sat down next to her on the bed or on the chairs around it.
It wasn't necessary, Jie pointed out. But she appreciated it.
"Jie," Chenle called her. "Does it hurt?"
She shook her head. "Doyoung gave me painkillers," she replied, as unimpressed as ever. Although the boy didn't expect a specific reaction, her disinterest still left him baffled.
"You don't look like you care much about getting shot," he pointed out at which she just shrugged.
Jeno exhaled deeply when he eventually remembered something.
"So that's why you didn't seem bothered at the gas station," he concluded, unsure how to feel about it. "You really don't care much."Sitting in the same chair he had been sitting in earlier as well, Taeyong glimpsed up briefly at that comment. He didn't react much though, just watched wordlessly as he ate his food and worked on whatever he was working on.
He seemed to have been particularly busy that day.
"Ah, did anyone tell you yet?" Renjun asked vaguely. "The men that were after you guys were in a gang."
Jisung seemed surprised to hear that. "Which gang?"
"You may not know them, they are from China," he continued. "Dragonhead."
The name pierced through the air. Sharp. Intimidating.
Just a name but it left a bitter taste behind.
Jisung huffed. "How can I not know them? Anyone in NCT knows them after what happened to Taeyong."
"How do we know who they are by the way?" Haechan wondered meanwhile.
Renjun swallowed the food he had shovelled into his mouth just a moment prior.
"They have tattoos," he explained. "A little uncreative, literally just what their name says - the head of a dragon.""Sounds cool," Jisung mumbled.
Jie hummed in disagreement. "Renjun's right." She looked up at the youngest. "It's pretty boring."
Which he didn't bother to question at all. He just pulled the corners of his mouth down a little in disappointment as he pushed out a soft,
"Oh." He looked at his plate as he mumbled, "It sounded cool."
It was that comment that caused Jaemin's eyes to fall onto the girl's covered shoulder before they slipped down to where a bandage was wrapped around her arm. Right. Doyoung probably saw it.
Jaemin looked up at the girl but she wasn't looking at him. So he looked over to Taeyong instead who quickly noticed the younger one's concerned gaze.
Taeyong just nodded reassuringly. No explanation, nothing much. Just the knowledge that it didn't quite matter to either of them.
"Kids," Taeyong said afterwards, shut his laptop soundly and glimpsed up at the younger ones. "Can I get a moment with the young couple?"
