*a special*
'Dylan!!' the girl yells from the living room, and a second later, her twin comes running from their parents' office, holding a piece of paper, and a plastic flower. 'Let's go!'
Without saying anything, he follows Emi upstairs, with Lotion a little behind, always with him. They stop outside Frank and Gerard's room, and Emi gives him a sign to follow her.
'Are you sure they won't be mad at us?' Dylan asks again.
'No, we have gifts for them.' And so, she opens the door, trying to balance the plate on her other hand. 'Happy father's day!!' Emi yells, and then Dylan joins in, waking both their dads up, confused and looking a little annoyed, but the second they see their kids standing by their bed, they forget about it. 'Happy father's day, dads!' she repeats and hands them the plate of cookies, before getting on the bed, kissing each of their cheeks.
Dylan got on their bed too, sitting in between them. 'I have a gift for you too.' He gives the flower to Frank, and the piece of paper to Gerard, who unfolds it, and sees four stick figures holding hands in front of a house, and three dogs and two cats nearby. 'That's us,' the boy says.
'I know, and it's the most beautiful masterpiece I've seen,' Gerard says with a smile.
'And Nanna Linda helped me buy the flower the other day.'
'Thank you, kiddos,' Frank tells them, kissing their foreheads and holding them closer. 'You know we love you more than anything, right? And that you make us the happiest dads on earth?'
'I know,' Emi says.
'Yeah, and we're luckier because we have two dads,' Dylan continues.
'Right?' Gerard says. 'And thank you for the cookies.'
They sit there, cuddling with the dogs and Gerard tells him the story of the mighty dragon again. At some point, Frank starts tickling Emi, and it ends up in a tickle war.
Gerard asks them where they want to go, but Frank says he just wants to stay home and watch the movies, and the kids agree. 'Let's throw a party. Just us,' he suggests.
'Can we have cupcakes?' Emi asks.
'Yes, please!' Frank begs too.
'Fine,' Gerard says, because he loves the idea too. If there's something that should be celebrated is them being dads and having a family, so heck, yes, they're having a party. 'I'll go look for all the decorations, and you guys are in charge of the music.'
'Can we play The Misfits, dad?' Dylan asks, and Frank immediately agrees.
They all help with the decorations, and blow lots of balloons. Frank orders pizza, and Gerard has all the ingredients ready for the cupcakes. 'Shall we start?'
The kids help with the cream cheese and choose green and purple to color it, and sprinkles.
While they wait for them to bake, the twins get distracted with the pets, and Frank and Gerard use that time to clean the kitchen. 'You think we did a good job with them?' Frank asks, out of nowhere.
'Are you kidding me? See how happy they are? I think that's enough.'
'I think you're right,' he says. 'Oh, you have some cream cheese there.'
'Where?'
Frank just leans in and licks it from his face, and then kisses him. 'There.'
When the pizza arrives, they pick a movie to watch – Beetlejuice – and sit down to watch.
They play board games, and decorate the cupcakes, and before seven p.m., both kids are exhausted of running around and are taking a nap on the couch.
'Happy father's day, Frank,' Gerard whispers to him, looking at their children. 'And thank you for giving me this family.'
'Happy father's day, my love.' He kisses his lips, a little tired too. 'This has been the best father's day ever. I think it's my favorite holiday now.'
'Even more than Halloween?'
'Well, still debating on that.'
Gerard just smiles as his husband yawns. 'Oh, you should rest too. I still owe you my gift, you dilf.'
Frank giggles, getting comfortable on Gerard's chest. 'I'm excited about that.'
'You should.'
