Chapter 1

Naruto's POV

I ended up moving to this city. It's not that simple, in simple words I fled from my horrible past and I really don't want it to repeat again in my remaining life. I was always alone after the tragic death of my parents. By that time I learned to live by myself. So living in an cheap apartment won't be that hard for me.

"Naruto, would you like to join our academy? we all study together and also have fun." Sai says. Sai is my first friend in this city. Thanks to him I managed to interact with a lot of people. He is a popular guy in this school, so a bunch of people always hang around him.

I tell him,"I don't know if I can do that. The expense is going to be too much for me." Sai says,"Seriously? how about all of us help you?" I am grateful that all of them are being thoughtful of me right now. It's not every one of them care for me. All of them are trying to keep up with Sai, that's all. Only Sai is the one who is considerate.

I tell him,"Thanks for asking me but I can't do that. I can study on my own." Sai nudges his shoulder pressing against mine and whines like a kid,"You are no fun Naruto." This guy acts like a kid around me.

I am on my way home. The classes are almost the same. The only way to get out of the situation I'm in is to study hard and have a decent job. "Let's go to the new cafe." I flinch and turn around. Sai is walking behind me. I ask him,"Why are you still following me?"

Sai says showing his puppy eyes,"Can't I just follow my best friend without any reason?" I mumble,"When did I become your best friend?" Sai ignores what I just said. He says looking at the new cafe beside the streets,"That cafe looks good. I wonder how their food tastes." "You go if yo..." I couldn't finish the sentence. He starts to drag me with him.

"Let's sit over there." He points to the place he wants to sit. I follow him from behind, there's no way he'd listen to me anyway. "What do you want to eat?" He asks me. I look at the food chart. All the foods look quite expensive for me because now it's the end of the month and I have a little money left for me. Sai says,"Well it'll be my treat."

I sigh and ordered for a coffee. Sai says,"That's all you want? I've got sweet tooth so I'm ordering...." This guy can talk by himself even if I'm not listening. From the first day, he was the one to push our friendship ahead. He even invites me to go to his house with him but I never went there. So he always invites himself to my house instead and we sometimes hang out together.

I was listening to Sai while he was talking. I have nothing to talk about. All the things about me are just boring. Then I start to check out the new cafe. Sai sometimes takes me to various restaurants and cafes with him. This one is new and quite nice. Then my eyes caught a figure that looked familiar to me.

I move my head to see the person again but the person is gone now. Did I see the right person? No, it can't be. He can't be here. There's no way he can find out about me and even if he finds out there's no reason for him to come and look for me. I'm tired and thinking too much, that's all.

Sai grabs my hand and gives a light squize. I quickly move my head again to face him. He looks worried. He asks,"Are you okay?" I gulp and feel thirsty suddenly. I say to him nervously,"I need some water." Sai frowns and says getting up,"Wait here, I'll bring water for you."

There's no reason for me to be afraid. I have nothing to loose now anyway. All I have to do is study hard and never look back again.

I see Sai coming toward me with a water bottle in his hand. He says handing it to me,"You look like a scared cat, do you know that?"

After hanging out with Sai we left the cafe. It's already evening. Sai looks at the watch on his wrist. He says clicking his tongue,"Shit, it's almost time to be tutored by my shitty teacher. will it be okay if you go home by yourself?" I nod and say,"Yeah, that's what I always do." Sai says looking at the taxi parked right there,"But it's dark now. I'll get that taxi for you. wait."

Before I could say anything Sai runs to the taxi. I see him talking to the driver through the opened window. Sai nods and comes back to me and  the taxi takes a turn. Sai says pointing to the car,"You get in. I paid for you." I mumble a thanks before getting into the taxi. I see Sai wavering his hand at me with a stupid grin on his face and I waver my hand back as a formality.

I always walk to my home after the school is over but Sai sometimes plays the part of a responsible mature friend that he isn't truely. He's more like a man child you need to take care of. Then my eyes goes to the mirror at the front of the taxi. I clearly saw the driver looking at me. I shake my head trying to wave my thoughts off. But more and more whenever my eyes went to the mirror, I saw him staring at me. What's with this uneasy feeling?

I tried to avoid all of it but I couldn't. I can't trust strangers easily now. So I decided to stop the taxi even before reaching my apartment. My apartment isn't that much far anyway. I tell the taxi driver,"Please stop right here. that's my house." I tried to trick him even if it can be meaningless. The driver stops the car like I told him to and I get out of the taxi.

I pretended to tap on my phone waiting for that taxi to leave. The taxi left making me sigh in relief. I'm being too much cautious after all. I start to make my way toward my apartment. I seriously need a long relaxing shower after the exhausting day.

Next day

"I heard you went to the new cafe?" "Is there any beautiful waitress who works there?" "Man, why didn't you call me?" Sai is being flooded by all of those questions. He amazes me sometimes with his patience. I know sometimes he doesn't like all these attentions he gets.

The door opens and our class teacher comes in. "Hey, I'm going back." Sai says before running back to his own seat. It was fixed by the teacher, where we are sitting. The teacher coughs. It's clear that he's going to make an announcement.

Before speaking he starts to look for someone. Everyone starts to whisper. "Is someone coming?" "It surely looks like it." I wonder who's coming. Then a guy comes in making me gasp. It can't be. No, it can't be! "From today a new student will be joining us." The teacher turns to the guy and says,"Please introduce yourself to everyone."

"I'm Sasuke Uchiha. it's all you guys need to know." everyone gasps hearing how he introduced himself to them. Then our eyes met. My breath hitched. My stomach is churning feeling the familiar emotions. I thought I left all my misery there but my misery came walking toward me.

This guy who was my worst nightmare, he's the reason my life became a hell. I hate him, I hate every Uchihas. I moved my gaze immediately. It's hard for me to even look at him. But I see his legs coming toward me. I gulp.

He stopped walking right beside my desk and kicked where my desk mate is sitting. I quickly look up and see my desk mate looking at him being scared and confused. "You, move." Sasuke says to the guy. The guy replies,"B-But it's my seat." Sasuke says gritting his teeth,"Do I look like I care?"

I see the guy quickly getting up and leave the seat. Sasuke managed to scare him off. That's the same Sasuke I used to know from my old school. Sasuke takes the seat beside me. I move a little farther trying to keep a safe distance. But I feel the heat and the feeling of him moving closer to me. I feel hot breath of him fanning over my ears.

I feel shiver and goosebumps. I feel scared. I start to sweat and pant. I know why he came here. He closed the gap finally and I hear him saying in his deep voice,"Got ya."
