Rylee's POV

The next two days we were decorating the compound, mostly the living area because it didn't make sense to decorate the gym or the indoor pool. Nat hung a mistletoe in every doorway and in some rooms so I didn't just storm into a room anymore, I rather waited a moment. Not that I didn't want to kiss Steve again but I wanted it to happen because we both wanted that.

Nat had enough of her little mistletoe-maneuver when she nearly ran into me in the doorway from the library and nearly ran into Rhodey the same evening. She got rid of every mistletoe except for the one in the kitchen where Steve and I kissed. When she told me what happened with Rhodey I nearly fell off my chair.

'I mean Tony would be worse because he and Pepper are married so I thought it would be better to get rid of them. But I achieved what I wanted, you and Steve kissed.'

'About that... We had this moment and nearly kissed but you asked for us to come into the kitchen. So I don't know if I want to give you the credit for that.' I was looking straight at my laptop and answered some emails from work.

'Wait. What? Why didn't you tell me?' Nat looked at me in shock.

'Because you were running around like a happy little goblin and I wanted you to enjoy it for a little bit longer.'

'I am not a goblin!' She started to laugh and I gave her a little side glance. 'Maybe I was. I'll leave you alone. I also have some work to do. And the next time something happens I want to know. Don't let me goblin around again.' I started to chuckle.

Shortly after she left the library where I was doing some work stuff I got an incoming call from my supervisor McIntosh. He just wanted to inform me that they didn't have a trail on Walker but they had some leads to another organization in Hungary who was dealing with the same kind of weapons we found in Russia. Also another FBI agent was shot in Budapest with similar ammunition like the one I was shot with. But they didn't know if this was Walker's work or just somebody who bought his weapons.

We talked for a little while and he told me that they were thinking about a task force who would have their focus more on the increasing number of weapon dealers. He wanted me to be a part of the team because I was involved from the beginning and even if I was shot he was impressed by my work. I felt flattered and told him that I would gladly be part of it. It was just theoretically but I would go back to Washington after the holidays to have a real talk with him. Although I could just do desk work until a doctor would give me the medical certificate that I could work back in the field.

I was answering more mails when Steve came into the library wearing a very tight blue shirt. I was admiring his body, his abs and his arms. I was so distracted that I didn't even recognize the ax in his hand.

'Instead of just walking through the door, shouldn't you have to smash it with the ax and scream -Here's Johnny!-' I was mocking him a little bit.

'Shining, right?'

'You understood that reference?' I didn't think he would know that I was referring to the famous scene from the 80s movie.

'Don't act all surprised. I made a list when I came out of the ice with things I missed. Clint made me watch a lot of horror movies.' I started to laugh.

'Of course. Let me guess. Every Stephen King movie, The Exorcist, Alien, Halloween?' I stopped the list when I realized I took him by surprise. 'Clint also made me watch all of these when I started to live with them. Most of the Time I was too afraid to sleep afterwards.'

Now it was Steve's turn to laugh. 'I wanted to fell a Christmas tree and maybe you would like to help me choose the right one.'

'Of course. What Christmas party would it be with the wrong tree? I will just put on something warmer.' I rushed into my room, put on a green sweater, light-colored jeans and boots and grabbed my leather jacket and a dark gray scarf on the way out.
