Rylee's POV

'I'll need 24 hours for everything. I just need a picture, Sugar.' Chad looked over at me. After I called him, he came to pick me up. He worked just one state away from Missouri in Nebraska. The director really sent him to the middle of Nowhere to the FBI quarter in Omaha but lucky me, it was just a four hour drive to the farm from there. I was as quiet as possible and nobody would realize I left until the morning.

'Do you have some scissors?' My long hair was a thing that I wanted to get rid of especially because Steve loved it. I didn't want it anymore. New life, New hair. Chad gave me some scissors and I walked into his bathroom. I never really had short hair. I looked into the mirror one last time and then started to cut it.

I came out of the bathroom. My hair was not even long enough to touch my shoulders anymore. Chad stared at me and I saw something in his eyes I never thought I would see. Compassion and pity.

'I saw the press conference. I'm sorry Rylee'

'Just take the picture' I didn't want to talk. I just wanted a new ID, a new identity and a new place where nobody knew who I really was. 24 hours. Then I could start somewhere new.

6 months later - May 2024

I sat on the bench on the porch of my little house. It wasn't that warm so I was cuddled up in a blanket. I drank my beloved hazelnut coffee and read a book about the witch trials in Salem when I realized a car stopped in front of my house.

I knew they would find me some day but I hoped I had more time. A little smile appeared on my face when I saw these two bickering in the car before they looked up and smiled back at me. The woman in the front seat was grinning all the time. I didn't realize how much I missed them.

'Hey doll' A little laugh escaped my lips when I heard the name that just Bucky called me. His hair was still long but a little shorter than the last time I saw him. We had nearly the same hair length now.

'Hello Rylee or should I say Violet?' Sam came up the two stairs after he helped Wanda to get something out of the trunk which looked like a present bag. Of course they knew my new name.

I still sat on the bench while they gathered around on the porch. I knew I couldn't sit here forever. I took a deep breath before I laid the blanket next to me, put my feet on the ground and stood up. It wasn't really elegant but that was no real surprise in my condition.

'Doll?' Bucky stared at my belly and without the blanket I couldn't hide the pregnancy at all. Before I could say something, Wanda nearly jumped at me. She was the only one who didn't seem surprised.

'You look great. I love the new hair.' She smiled and I hugged her back. After I cut the hair myself I went to a hairdresser a few weeks later and my hair was now chin length.

'I think you gained some weight, Violet' I glanced at a laughing Sam and Wanda just hit him.

'Wow. Charming. I guess you're still single?' Wanda chuckled at my response and now it was Sam who glared at me before he also hugged me. Bucky still didn't say anything until he looked me back in the eyes and I saw tears in them.

'Would you ever have told us if we didn't come here today?' Wow. So we would jump right into the deep talk.

'Yes' He didn't believe me like I didn't believe him at first after Steve left. I sat down on the bench again and pulled him next to me. 'I don't say I would have come to you next week or next month but at some point I would have. I needed time. I still do. I just need to find out who I am without my job and especially without Steve.'
