Chapter 40

Steve's POV - October 2023

Bruce built a new smaller time heist with the help of Scott and Friday. Tony woke up a week ago and he was getting better every day. He already planned a new compound even though he finally would put the suit away. His health and his family were now the number one priority but it wouldn't be Tony if he wouldn't think about the future especially with everybody who came back. He said the compound was a home for a lot of people and he wanted to build a new home for the ones who needed it.

I would bring back the stones tomorrow and Bruce would adjust the last things on the new time heist. Bucky went to Tony today and they had a long talk. I knew Bucky wanted to make amends for a long time now even though it was not his fault. He was used and brainwashed and I was glad that he was finally free from the trigger words.

I didn't know what Tony said to him but it seemed like Bucky felt better and he also got to know Morgan and Pepper a bit when he helped them while Tony was still in coma. Morgan loved his metal arm and he also met Clint's kids once and Nate didn't want to let go of him either. Rylee just laughed after Morgan called him Uncle Bucky.

Pepper wasn't that happy about it at first but after Rylee had a talk with her and after she came back from visiting Tony she was okay with Bucky being around Morgan. We helped a lot in their home to make everything ready when Tony would come home. And we also helped in the Tower which was used for a lot of people who didn't have a home anymore. Maria Hill lived there at the moment after her whole apartment complex didn't exist anymore, Wanda moved in shortly after she came back from Missouri and Sam had a room when he wasn't in Louisiana and a few people who worked as lab assistants or something similar. Bucky didn't feel comfortable around so many people at the same time so he stayed with us.

Bucky was also the babysitter for Morgan today while Pepper visited Tony. He wasn't Pepper's first choice but Happy was with his mother, Peter was back in school and Rylee and I wanted to spend the day together. At least Bucky was Morgan's first choice and he replaced Rylee as her favorite.

Rylee's POV

I just came home from shopping for some groceries when I heard some 40s music. Living with the two super soldiers meant that I listened to this music a lot and it also meant that the fridge was always empty. I put the stuff I bought for today's dinner in the fridge before I walked into the bedroom. I saw Steve sitting at the small desk we bought after Bucky moved into the guest room and we got rid of the office stuff like the big desk and the file cabinets. I wouldn't need that anymore.

I didn't even try to sneak up on Steve because he definitely already heard me when I came into the apartment so I just walked over to him to look what he made. He was drawing again and I loved to watch him. It was the first time that he had the pencils in his hand after Scott came to the compound. I looked at the drawing and gasped.

'Is that me?' I looked over his shoulder.

'No, that's Pepper. I thought she would like a drawing of her... naked.' I started to laugh and looked again at the drawing.
