Rylee's POV

Before I left the compound Nat helped me with my hair and makeup again. I was more the type for a little mascara and a ponytail. I had the idea first that I could impress Steve. I searched how the woman looked in his time and what they wore so I bought a dress online. To be honest I bought like a hundred dresses and sent all of them back. I felt like I was playing dress up so I decided I would just wear what I would feel comfortable in or at least more comfortable than a dress not out of my time. I didn't want to look like I was wearing a costume.

I looked in Nat's bathroom mirror and I didn't really recognize myself. Nat got inspired by the 40s thing so she was doing the make up a little bit in that style. She curled my hair to the side so it fell in waves over one shoulder. I would put on the dress I bought after the whole forties dress fiasco when I would be at Steve's place so it wouldn't wrinkle. And I couldn't drive with the heels. I could barely walk in them.

'Steve will be blown away. You just need to put on lipstick when you're there. But when you're biting on your lip like that you won't need lipstick anymore.' I stopped biting it immediately. I didn't even know why I was that nervous. Maybe it was because of my realization earlier of what I was truly feeling towards him.

I thanked Nat, hugged her goodbye and made my way to Steve. I knew that we would eat somewhere and then watch a movie. Dinner and a movie. A classic date. I couldn't remember the last time I was on such a date or on a date at all. But Nat was kinda right, we already had a few dates but nothing official... like our relationship status.

Stop Rylee! Breathe. The front door was open and I walked upstairs to the third floor and knocked. When he opened the door I couldn't stop myself, my face turned into a huge smile. He looked so good in his suit. It was a black one similar to the one from Christmas and a white shirt.

Steve's POV

I opened the door and I pulled Rylee directly into my arms. It was too long ago when I was holding her and I gave her a passionate kiss. I stopped myself before it got too heated and unwrapped my arms from her body.

'Wow.' She looked up at me with blinded eyes and a longing smile. 'Hi.'

I just wanted to throw her over my shoulder and carry her into my bedroom. I knew she wouldn't really mind skipping the date right now because of how her hands were gripping my upper arms, her nails digging into my skin. I used my whole self-control to take a step back.

I helped her out of her coat and then she walked into my bedroom to get changed for our date. She could keep the jeans and the sweater on. She was always beautiful and the way the jeans were hugging her curves was tempting. I took two steps towards the closed bedroom door until I turned around to go into the kitchen. Rylee deserved a perfect date and not just somebody who jumped at her.

The lasagna was nearly ready. I bought red wine that would fit that. Pepper was a big help because I just drank beer and that not often and wine was a mystery to me. I lit up the candles in the kitchen, the hallway and the living room, put on some music and poured the wine into two glasses which I only bought for today. I promised Rylee a classic date with dinner and a movie but she didn't know yet that I cooked by myself and we would have the date here in my flat. I heard my bedroom door opening.

'Steve?'

Rylee stood in the doorway and looked at the candles in the corridor. Her face had an amazed expression because she couldn't keep her eyes from all the candles while I couldn't keep my eyes off her. She was wearing a dress in a darker red tone that matched her lipstick and her heels made her legs look longer than ever.

'Didn't you say it's just dinner and a movie?'

'Yes. And we will have dinner and a movie here. I cooked lasagna, there is a blueberry pie for dessert and I bought popcorn for the movie later.' She was just staring at me and didn't say anything. Maybe this was totally wrong. I should have booked a table in a fancy restaurant. 'If you don't like it we can go out. I mean it's Monday we will find a restaurant where we could get a table and...'
